Congrats on the win...
...but let's all try to be objective for a minute. How many wins vs. #1 would Vandy really have if it wasn't the only college arena in the country with the non-conventional bench seating? I mean for real, it would be a totally different story if Vandy would have a layout like everyone else in the country. Totally unfair conditions, imo. Yeah call it sour grapes, but I have always said this even when we win. I really don't understand why the NCAA let's you guys get away with it. You guys should really feel greatful that they don't make you join everyone else. Conventional layout and Tennessee wins by at least 10 on a neutral court. Hope to see you again in ATL on conventional court.

I stopped reading after the first question mark. Get real, go away, deal with the loss, or speak rationally. THE BENCHES ARE THE SAME FOR BOTH COACHES!!! UCLA has 13 + wins over #1's and no ones bitching to get the benches on the endzones where they belong!!!!

Re: Congrats on the win...
Wow, I thought this was going to be a graceful acceptance and it turns out we won because of where our benches are. Awesome. Maybe the spell check will kick in next time, too;
Go Dores! Go Heels!

Please no one tell him that all basketballs in Memorial Gym are filled with helium. This really reminds me of Hoosiers; remember when the coach takes out a measuring tape and measures the rim, the free throw line, etc?

Ok...serious question and put down the gold glasses. Is it or is it not an advantage? Try to be objective, if you can.

It's our home court. Is it an advantage to have 100,000 fans in Neyland Stadium?

Re: Congrats on the win...
Thanks for the kind words, but your concerns about the bench layout is ill-founded. Plenty of teams in the past have come into Memorial and won. We play well at home because we're good and we have great crowds for big games. The benches aren't really that big of a factor. This was Pearl's third trip to Memorial. You'd think he would have been prepared for the bench layout if it was even a problem to begin with.
However, Vandy isn't always perfect at home - ask Furman and Arkansas about last year. Just like every other team in the country - Vandy can be beat at home. Sorry, the bench excuse is sooooo twenty years ago.
You guys have a good team. Be happy with that.

Re: Congrats on the win...
Since the layout doesn't really matter, Vandy should go ahead and change it. LOL, somehow I don't think it's going to happen. You know what though, I don't blame them. Why change something unless the NCAA makes them. I wouldn't get rid of a built in advantage either. Congratulations on the win and can you believe the basketball that is being played in the state of Tennessee? Unbelieveable!!

List of people who never complained about coaching from the baseline at Memorial
Dean Smith - North Carolina Bobby Knight - Indiana Tubby Smith - Kentucky Digger Phelps - Notre Dame Tim Floyd - New Orleans
plus Ray Mears, Don DeVoe, Wade Houston, Jerry Green, Buzz Peterson...
but who WOULD b=tch about it??

"I tell ya, it ain't fair...but I got a deal on an Oldsmobile with white-walls!!"

Is it an advantage for Pearl to have his bench on the side? If so, then I'd keep that going at Thompson-Bolling too.

Re: Congrats on the win...
Great teams overcome obstacles. And in fact, the layout of Memorial is quite player friendly in general, giving them plenty of space. In addition, I've read positive comments from visiting players in the past on the atmosphere for shooting. It isn't a "snakepit" type crackerbox dump, but a spacious facility with an often raucous crowd and a unique layout, which, again, a great team will overcome. Also, championship teams should not make excuses.

Re: Congrats on the win...
Grow up. Don't be a b!tch. Nobody is doggin' your team. Y'all have a great team, but you lost. Our place is a tough place to play. Home court advantage is a part of the game. Do y'all have a better team? That certainly can be argued; however, its the freakin' game that matters. You have to win it. You smoked us in K-town. You didn't see us whine about the enormity of Thompson-Bowling Arena and how it affected our shooting.

Re: Congrats on the win...
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they did change the layout. I don't know what other folks around here think, but it would not bother me. I don't know if it's engineering issues that are keeping changes from happening, stubbornness on part of the administration, or "tradition." All I know is, Vandy teams would keep winning regardless.
