Verlander seems to have had a smidgen of a better year. Kinda interesting that the Tigers have had the two arguably best players this year and just beat out the chisox.

Also, I have seen rumors that David may get traded over the winter. Does anyone know more about that.

Verlander is my favorite pitcher in the MLB...my fantasy ace for a few years now...and he was not even close to Price this year.  Price had more wins (for a worse team) and his ERA was nearly a half-run better than anyone else in consideration.  It will be either Weaver or Price.  Verlander was actually down this year from the previous two...but he's still my favorite.

The NL is much closer.  Gio was the best pitcher on a Division winner as was Cueto.  Dickey absolutely dominated and won 20 games for a terrible team...and pitched all year with a muscle tear that will require surgery in the coming weeks.  Kimbrel, while a closer, has produced splits and ratios that have never been seen on a MLB field. (over 16 k/9!)  They all have legitimate shots.

Verlander actually closed the ERA gap considerably down the stretch, and only ended up about a tenth of a run behind Price.

I think Verlander is the favorite, though Price wouldn't surprise me at all. I'd vote Price, but I'm biased ...

I'd be pretty surprised if it wasn't Verlander.  He pitched a whole lot more innings than Price or Weaver and he's way ahead in most of the sabermetric formulas.  For some reason, Verlander had terrible run support this year and the Tigers' defense was pretty awful as everyone knows.

Though I'm a diehard Tiger fan also and watched nearly every Verlander start (and very few of Price's), I'd rather see Price win it.  Would be huge for VU (though I honestly don't know how our recruiting could be any better than it already is!)

Anyone know how many times Verlander pitched against...

play-off teams compared to Price?

RE: Dickey

Anyone else wonder why knuckleballers don't pitch say, every two or three days instead of 5?  They put so little strain on their arms.  Seems to me like if the knuckle is working, keep going to the well.
