Vandy Lance sighting!

I saw and spoke to Vandy Lance in the parking lot after the game Sunday. While I can't confirm for sure that he was at the game, I think he probably was. He said he had tot decided about going to CWS yet.

Re: Need more info on this pls. Nm

Lance did NOT go to the game. He watched the game on tv At the end of the game when he saw Maggie Corbin in years he went down after the game to try and congratulate the coach and Maggie. Although unable to see them he did see most of the players and their parents. When he explained his situation they understood and support him
completely. They all expressed how he was missed and many told him of how they too have been subject to security harassing them about cheering too loud and bothering others.
Something really needs to be done - this is getting to the point of being rediculous

At least Lance is now being believed. Just hate this is happening to others

Hoping those boys go to Omaha and win it all !!
Lance may be going- He will not have big brother watching him there !

I  have supported Lance in this Don Quixote-like quest, and for the most part still do, but good grief ..... it's time to let it go. People have peed in my sandbox too, and I've moved on.

What many on this board seem to not understand is that the VUPD will not "move on"...for many years they have harassed Vanderbilt fans...VandyLance has had all he's going to take and I don't blame him...if someone in a position of authority at VUPD or one of their bosses doesn't put an end to the harassment then I hope VandyLance NEVER comes to a sporting event again at Vandy--and more power to him...

Re: Vandy Lance sighting!

Does VU athletics think they are going to get the next generation of enthusiastic fans to show up at Dudley/Memorial/Hawk by holding events at places like the "Member by Invitation Only" country club in Chattanooga?

What a bunch of B S. And the rent-a-cops never do a damn thing about opposing fans causing trouble in our sports venues.

What VanDsirrom said above x2.

Everyone needs to get off the Lance rant.  Lance has brought more exposure and given more to this program than probably everybody else on this board combined.   So we all need to get over ourselves.

Lance is still the only fan I have ever heard of that made it into an opposing team's scouting report.

Amen....just pure comedy at this point. Waiting for someone to pop out and tell us it's all been a very childish prank.

Re: Vandy Lance sighting!

i agree with that about how the rent a cops don't care about the rude opposing fans and just hassle VU students and fans and they been a pain in the neck for years, as have the rude metro cops who occasionally beat up students even when I was in school or try to stake out areas near the school to harass.

Meanwhile I do hope Lance will just move on and come on back and ignore anyone else, especially the loudmouths who like to keep mentioning the word "childish" but who aren't any more mature themselves -- we are all hear to watch a game and even being in here posting daily is childish; he doesn't waste his time doing that. I hope the people that feel they have to weigh in against another fan would lay off and anyway hopefully Lance will ignore all that and move ahead and attend anything he feels like.

So he did not go to the game, which was about the team, but he did try and go to celebrate with the team so people could see him? Is that what I am reading? I don't have a dog in this hunt but what you wrote wreaks of selfishness. "When he explained the situation they understood and support him completely." So on the day they clinch the trip to the College World Series, the most important thing is to show up and say "let me tell you all why I wasn't here. Have you heard my story?"

If my post is in poor taste then that is the last time you will hear anything about it. But I do believe to show up after the game and refuse to go to the game was making it all about him, and he's not what this is about.

Past his sell-by date

It's been all about him ever since the incident at the Florida game (and most likely well before that).  It has gotten comical.  No, he doesn't waste time on the internet since he doesn't use a computer. He doesn't interact with the players or support them via social media. Not enough people would see him doing it!   I really did start out as neutral in all this, but not anymore.  If Sis or Lance thinks most of the fans or players are losing sleep over this or care much at all, they are sorely mistaken.  When the topic comes up with people connected to the athletic programs, there is just a lot of eye rolling.

Re: Past his sell-by date

Simply said.....nobody cares. I was at the point to start I just wanted lance to grow up and get back. Now I just want him to go root for someone else. He and his people have been trying for months to stir the pot and get support. No player is going to leave the program over this. Other than his followers no fan will stop supporting vu for lance. His value to the program is over inflated in his head

Re: Vandy Lance sighting!

Contrary to what some believe, there are folks who love and support VU more than Lance.

P.S. We are going to Omaha without any assistance from Lance.

Re: Vandy Lance sighting!

I wish people would stop bringing up these threads about him. It ALWAYS turns into a bunch of sanctimonious finger pointers trashing him by the end of it. He is NOT the one starting these threads but you guys just can't stop talking about other people. Why don't you just leave him alone instead of backstabbing him. He didn't make this thread about him -- YOU DID. Drop it! The only person related to him in here said he was probably going to the next game so you have whiners come back in trying to find ways to twist a knife and turn that into "being all about him" -- DROP the subject if you don't like making threads "all about him" - he didn't start this thread! You backbiters did.

And as for the "cheerleader" - why don't you cheer for VU in an appropriate thread and stay out of fan backstabbing threads?

If you want to see the guy attend things then shut up and leave him alone and stop pointing fingers. He had a bad experience at a game when he asked for support when an opposing team's fan was trying to create a conflict and he found no support and was disappointed. That's all but he could put it behind if you would shut up about talking about him. I don't want to hear all this garbage in here every other day trashing a fan who never did anything to me!

A pack of snide, juvenile, fingerpointing hyenas who ought to mind their own business instead of calling him the "childish" one.

And to Vandylance and sis, please don't bring up this garbage any more. Just be a wit and stop letting someone's mistake obsess you. Forget the ding dong that made the mistake at a game and move on. Obviously you learned not to count on VU campus cops; chalk it up to lesson learned and don't ask them for any help again. Your function at games is to contribute wit and don't worry about campus cops. Don't bring this up to the team any more -- if you're going to the game, go and congratulate them instead of bringing up this past slight again, as it seems like he apparently went to the team and talked about it -- they need to get to enjoy their wins and not hear about a fan's problems with some individual cop that they can't do anything about and shouldn't have to be hearing about. So in that respect it is getting to be something you should put behind you. Learn from how people behave in these situations and move on. Congratulate the team if you are going to their games and don't bring this up again to them. I just wish everyone would drop it. Lance too, but especially all the people looking for an opportunity to get a dig in.

Re: Vandy Lance sighting!

I sat beside Lance for years in football. I don't understand why he can not go to the games and just not heckle, talk trash or be loud. Just attend the game and cheer for the team. If the Gestapo still have a problem with him when he does that then sue them for harassment. It is not all of his fault but some of his past actions make him a target.

Stats

I've been to about 400 Vandy games in my life, and I have never been approached or harassed by the Vanderbilt police. I don't expect that I ever will.

Re: Vandy Lance sighting!

Seriously. Does anyone think the players or their families gave a rats you know what about Lance on the day they went to Omaha. Or that there is a widespread problem with VUPD silencing parents?

I wouldn't go so far as to wish he'd root for other teams but there is something really sad about this whole situation. I kind of feel bad for him. His whole sense of self worth was based upon heckling at VU games.

And on a final note, why the VUPD bashing? I got to know a number of them as a student. If my kids are lucky enough to attend VU I'd be thankful for a fully accredited police force. They are not mall cops or rent a cops.
