I didn't have a problem with them. I think they do it to honor veterans and I'm veteran so I appreciate. They've been wearing them on Sundays for a couple years so it makes sense to not change that tradition in a Super Regional.

I thought they were great, as were the results of the game. I liked especially the American flag star on the caps.

I like them.  Anybody know if the t-shirts they wear with the map of the US are available at the bookstore or anywhere online?

I thought I had turned on the Ole Miss game by mistake.  Surely we can find a way to honor our servicemen while still retaining our school's colors.

Did you see Pepperdine"s uniforms?  Hideous.

For those that might not know, the military appreciation uniforms were first worn 5/11/2010 in the first home game after the great Nashville flood that started on May 1.  The game was against Louisville and lasted 17 innings until Esposito hit the walk-off home run. But the game didn't end quietly as the Louisville team thought that Jason had tossed the bat toward the pitcher. The teams did not shake hands after the game.

Re: I think they're probably the best uniforms we have...

all-in-all.

They are well-designed and not overly "decorative" (for lack of a better term).

The hat is absolutely perfect, and the script on the jerseys is more tasteful than the free-flowing yet somehow gaudy jumbo cursive on our regular uniforms.

Plus, they seem to be good luck-- we've been winning quite a bit in them, so taking that into considertation, I think everybody should be in favor of them, if for no other reason than that.

I bet the players like them -- it's following the trend in football of having multiple uniforms.

Re: Uniforms For The Game Yesterday (Sunday)...

Took a friend with me on Sunday who just happens to be of a orange persuasion (yes, she wore black and gold)... who obviously knew nothing about Vanderbilt Athletics. First thing she asked when we got to Hawkins Field was about the blue and red uniforms.

She was very impressed with the reason for them, part of the reason Vanderbilt has earned a new casual fan. So keep in mind that these kind of things also have a PR value.

Re: Uniforms For The Game Yesterday (Sunday)...

I realize that our College World Series run has opened the bandwagon for a few new fans and onlookers from other teams. And that's okay.

But the argument against the USA uniforms is a tad-bit dated. This is not a new concept. In fact, this year's version of the uniform is the best yet with the Star on the cap. Last year featured a navy cap with a red bill and a tall block V in stars and stripes.

Sunday special uniforms are not unique to Vanderbilt. The San Diego Padres wear camo on Sundays and the Toronto Blue Jays have followed suit with a Canadian version. The Kansas City Royals bring back the baby blue jerseys and caps. Teams like the White Sox, Braves, Marlins, Brewers, Athletics, Mariners, Rangers, Rays, Rockies, Nationals, etc. all wear solid color jerseys on Sundays of the primary team color, or black. The St. Louis Cardinals wear a special cap with no STL, instead a bird sitting on a bat with a red bill to the navy cap.

I'm sure there are a lot of collegiate variations and football is full of them (Rutgers, Northwestern).

I heard coach Corbin give the real reason for the Uni's on Plaz's show yesterday afternoon. He said they are not just  to honor the troops. but to honor the country in General. Since most of the players on the roster come from all over the USA, it became a way to unite the team and honor the US. He said they would not wear Camo because he finds it disrespectful to the people who have to really wear Camo.

Prefer our own colors. Too Ole Miss-like. Anyway it's not something they will change the rest of this season on Sundays I'm sure.

We won't be playing on Sunday in the tourney (unless there is a postponement) so I wonder if we will wear these units another day.
