Surprising that Chris Harvey is not getting some...
attention. Does anyone know how he fits in our plans this season? Perhaps he'll do some DHing in addition to spelling Navin when necessary.

RE: Surprising that Chris Harvey is not getting some...
I expect him to be our #1 DH until proven otherwise, as well as get in some catching time during the mid-week games.

Re: Chris Harvey
His was one of the names missing from Baseball America's pre-season rankings and review.
I see Harvey as a better starting DH than Norwood, primarily because of his power. Norwood will start occasionally in the outfield and enter a game late as a pinch-runner. I guess we will find out early on if the backup catcher will be Harvey or Lupo. Because of his defensive abilities (and solid hitting), I would like to see Navin stick around for a Senior season ... but let's not worry about that right now.
Harvey could be the right-handed platoon at DH with lefties Wiseman or Andrew Harris. But if he hits RH pitching well, Harvey could start almost every game in order to leave us a couple left-handed bats on the bench. The other three LH batters are regulars Kemp, Gregor and Yaz.
Should Wiseman get significant PT, we could potentially see four Freshmen in the starting lineup at some point -- Campbell, Turner and Swanson would be the others. Wouldn't THAT be interesting? Even if it's a midweek game with one of the Frosh starting on the mound.

Re: Chris Harvey
FYI, Backup catcher is Harvey. Only if there is an injury or two is Lupo likely see time behind the plate. Wiel is also there as an emergency catcher.

I believe Corbs has the guys to legitimately do this.

One of the team weaknesses is lack of power, so Harvey should get every chance to provide some pop to the lineup at DH.

Pretty good shot '75...
The guys today (and your contemporaries and you) had it better than those of us in the early '60s. Then, it generally required a lot of time and work.

I guess I was lucky, as things changed quite significantly in the mid to late 60's. Where I wasn't so lucky was getting a lottery draft number 2 two months before graduating from high school. I'm sure glad my son and grandsons don't have to worry about lottery draft numbers anymore.

Things tend to...
even out in the long run. Glad you survived the #2. They tried to pull me out of law school when I was in the middle of a major moot court competition. Took two physicals, but a football knee kept me in law school. Made the moot court finals, but lost there.

Sorry about losing the finals, but it apparently didn't do you any permanent damage. Unfortunately for me, I was never good enough in sports to sustain a significant injury. It was also my unfortunate luck that the college deferment was ended the same year. However, due to the slowness of the military at the time (they were focused on winding down the war, I suppose), I was able to finish 3 semesters of college before having to go away, a delay that gave me time to sneak into the National Guard (which was losing people due to the end of the draft) and only ended up missing 1 full semester and 1/2 of another. I then went straight through, even took 21 hours twice after sweet-talking my academic adviser into approving it, and actually graduated with my classmates (but just the ones who needed one extra summer to finish things off.) In retrospect, I would NOT advise 7 straight semesters of college for anyone.
