Castellano leaving?

I just saw some posts on twitter indicating Connor Castellano has left the team.  Anyone have any info on this?

I just pulled up the roster on vucommodores.com and he isn't listed.

Hate to hear that. I thought he had the best power stroke on the team.

He saw limited action last year, but I was impressed with his play.  Seemed to be a very clutch hitter.  I guess maybe he didn't think he was going to get enough playing time?

Yes, he had a couple big home runs and in at least one case, really rallied the team.

Think it was a numbers problem...one more player than allowed by NCAA.

Conner was not able to break into the everyday lineup. A good kid that will do well wherever he goes.

I hope that it really wasn't a numbers deal.  He had some big hits for us down the stretch last year.  I guess that does bode well for the incoming guys.

Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

playing time will be hard to come by so it's possible you'll see more kids leaving in the future.

Re: Castellano leaving?

Kids leaving to get playing time is something every talent laden team has to deal with.  These kids grow up dreaming about playing professional ball, not playing ball at Vanderbilt University.  Some kids are deluded, but I would think most kids who are good enough to play for the Commodores have a legitimate shot of being drafted and getting a shot at playing at the next level.  The thing about sitting is, "it doesn't make you better."  You have to play to get better.  I feel that once you are out of the lineup you are on a dangerous downhill slide.  The guys you are competing with are getting their innings and their at bats in real games and your stuck hitting in the cage.  Even the high school kid who is coming up next year is playing and getting live at bats.  If you aren't playing your dream can slip away real fast.
