But if you're asking about your hometown team, it's safe to assume they will be strongly in the mix.

Zander Weil and Kyle Smith could push for a DH spotI could envision 1 of the freshmen pitchers making it as a weekday starter -- several to choose from (and perhaps the best one, Buehler, didn't participate in the fall either.) Carson Fulmer was particularly impressive to me. Several freshmen pitchers will get considerable work as middle relief and perhaps closer. To me, this freshman class is head and shoulders above last year's (based just on fall ball.)

There are a lot of potenital lineups and a lot of the Freshmen are going to be working hard in practice and trying to push into the lineup. I'm sure with TC, they're all going to get field time and at bats because he's pretty good about developing players so the guesses at a lineup aren't very important...but it's still fun. I didn't get to see the black/gold series, but I did listen. It sounded like the pitching was solid and we didn't get a lot of hits. If they'd used a standard extra-inning format instead of the bases loaded approach, they'd probably still be playing here in December (800 innings?)I wonder, wonder, wonder, wonder, who, who will he play at 3rd? Or SS? Or 2b? (sing to a 50's tune).

Are any of the former players around this winter working out or attending classes? Lots of them leave after their junior year, how many of them come back and finish up school? If they're at school, do they spend time at the baseball field working out with the players on the team?

Would like to see Tony Kemp return to left field, although he was certainly a defensive star at second last year. Would be nice to be able to clone him.The issue is really not youth, but quality. Pec, Beede and Ziomek are solid, but must yet prove they are Omaha-class on the mound. We'll need to find a stopper in the 'pen. Must hope we get some help from newcomers and...stay injury-free.All that being said, it's hard to escape the feeling that the shy's the limit.Merry Christmas to all.
