A few weeks ago, I was thinking about who would be considered the most successful Vanderbilt athlete of all time (on the field, clearly many Vanderbilt athletes go on to do other great things as well).

Specifically, I am meaning if you count both college career and pro career.
Originally, the success of Brandt Snedeker had me thinking about the topic because he has been at the top of his sport in both college and the pros.  Am I correct that he was considered the top collegiate golfer?  Now David Price has achieved the same... was at the top of his sport in college and now has a Cy Young award.

I've only been keeping up with Vandy since I started as a student in 2002.  Historically, are there many others as successful as those two in pro and college?

Bill Wade used to work at one of the banks downtown when he was older (late 1970's/early 80's).  He played in an era when pro players weren't paid multi-million dollar salaries and had to find a job after football.  I used to go down there and hang out with him at lunch now and then to just listen to him talk about 'the old days", though I don't remember much now about what he said, but I do remember him talking fondly of his opponents and teammates.
