The other thing is that you never know who is going to thrive.  Some of the kids just need a few at bats to adjust, some take longer like a season or more and some never do, highly recruited or not. Sometimes it's just a matter of unconsciously adjusting to the speed difference and once the switch is flipped, you never look back, which is what I hope is the case for young Mr. Swanson.

Johnny Football, who I'm sure most of us have heard too much about lately, was just a 3-star recruit, barely made the top 20 QB recruits out of high school and wasn't the starting quarterback until just before the season started.  While the Johnny Football story is probably 1 in a million, the story of the underdog rising to the occasion is an ubiquitous story and one that we've seen a lot at VU.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Rhett Wiseman for a couple years and I hope that he finds his groove this spring also.

Well, it will be interesting to see if these freshman get an opportunity and what they do with it.  I wonder how long of a leash McKeithen will have at shortstop.  He obviously has had very limited playing time in his first two years with no great track record to rely on.  If he comes out and hits .250 and fields well, will this be enough to keep him in the lineup?  Or is Corbin going to expect more production from his shortstop and give Swanson a shot earlier  than later?

Kemp has two pretty successful seasons under his belt so I don't see Campbell ever replacing Tony at second no matter what the production levels are.  I think Campbell's best chance is if they can not find any production in left field.  They may move Tony back to left field and let Campbell play second.  Kemp is probably a more natural outfielder than a middle infielder.  This may be a defensive plus at both positions.  I suppose Campbell could also get a shot at shortstop if ,both McKeithen and Swanson, fail to produce.

Xavier Turner could be the first freshman (position player) to see regular time in the lineup.  You figure Conde will probably start at third base and Turner may be the first guy in if there is no production here.  If Wiseman figures things out at the plate this winter we may see him early on in the season as well, but my guess is he is probably pretty deep on the depth chart right now.

If we get off to a winning season right away, I would think all of the starters would get a much longer leash.  If things don't go well right away, look for some early rotations in the lineup.
