San Juan Shootout confirmation....
The 'Dores will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving taking part in the San Juan Shootout, November 22-24. Fans on the board had posted this information previously but more details have come to light as fellow participant Eastern Kentucky released their 2012/13 schedule today. The Lady Colonels' press release lists the Dores and Eastern Kentucky, Syracuse, Florida State, Virginia (with new asst coach ashley earley on the sidelines), North Dakota State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and one team yet to be named. From looking at last year's shootout format, each team plays at least two games then winners advance to championship round(s).
Last year I believe Rutgers picked up the title with wins over Arizona State and Georgia Tech.

Interesting. Virginia & us, so far, make this a very good challenge. As I remember from last year, it will not be televised. Maybe this good schedule of teams will interest a network.

Re: San Juan Shootout confirmation....
I don't think they ever televise these early season tournaments in exotic locales on the women's side, even when high profile teams are involved. It's got to be an expensive proposition to send a TV crew. But streaming over the internet might be a possibility . . . but I wouldn't count on it. I think Burt has the right idea; if you want to actually see the games, better start saving the pennies for a nice late fall vacation to Puerto Rico. :)

Besides Ashley Earley, unless she's had a change of employment that I haven't heard about, there will another familiar face from Vanderbilt since Hadley Zeavin is (or at least, as of the last I knew) in basketball operations at Virginia. blackgold4ever wrote: The 'Dores will be in San Juan, Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving taking part in the San Juan Shootout, November 22-24. Re: San Juan Shootout confirmation....
Anyone have any idea on whether our Thanksgiving tournament will happen? It has always been a nice event to attend during that holiday time.

I reckon we won't know for sure until the schedule is officially released, but given the dates, I would assume that there won't be a Thanksgiving tournament this year. It's possible that they might do a similar tournament at a different time, though. IIRC, a few years ago they did a similar four-team tournament during the Christmas holiday, so maybe that's a possibility.
