I wasnt able to attentd the game because i was out of town what exactly happend to steph? How did the rest of the team look?

She came down hard on a fall. I thought at first it was a shoulder injury, because it looked like she fell hard on her shoulder. But once they put her on the stretcher, I could see that they had her knee wrapped.

I was in the I section and had a fairly good view of everything. It was heartbreaking to see her get hurt.  I sure hope this is nothing too serious.

However, Kendall and Claire looked really good, esp Kendall, so did Heather.

I didn't have a good view because I was on the opposite end of the court. All I saw was a scrum, lots of bodies going for the ball. Then I saw that Steph was on the floor, and I could hear her screaming, never a good sign.  I talked to some folks who did get a good view, and they said it reminded them of the injury to Marcus Lattimore.   They put on an air cast, and she left the court on a stretcher.

Sometimes you see an injury that you think is serious, and it turns out not to be, and I fervently hope for the sake of Steph, her teammates and coaches, that this is one of those, but the signs are so bad that I'm thinking she's out for the season. I'd love to be wrong about that.

Coach Balcomb left directly after the game to go the med center. The SID said, if possible, they'd send out a release after a diagnosis is confirmed. 

The news on Gabby is better. She has a sprained wrist, and I was told that she could have played if necessary. But since this was an exhibition, they decided to hold her out.

I was underneath the basket on Vandy's end and got a good albeit horrifying look.  It happened so fast that I am having trouble replaying what I saw. Yet, it was almost like slow motion when it happened.  I actually screamed "Oh No" before she even hit the floor.

The best I can replay it in my mind, she was up in the air and fell backward with her leg from the hip down in a position nature never intended with it more or less folded up underneath when her she fell on it with the full force of her body.  My first thought given the obvious amount of pain and position of leg when she fell was that she had to fracture something (or God forbid -- more than one something.) I also thought of Lattimore and the possibility of a dislocated knee and all the other knee related injuries.

No matter what was or was not fractured, I can tell you that one thing that was definitely broken == that was my heart.  I could hardly stand to see this girl go down like that after all the hard work and disappointments she has had to endure to come back from her injuries to the point of being a star on this team and in this league.

Other teams may have given up on her, but she never gave up on herself.  I was so proud for her last year when in the post game interviews she responded proudly and emotionally when the number of minutes she played was mentioned favorably.  I seem to remember one in particular when you could see the emotion in her face when she said how satisfying it was to her because at one point she had been told she probably would never to be able to physically play more than a limited number minutes in a Division One game.

Steph, speaking for we Vandy fans, know that we love you, are hurting with you tonight, and that you have earned a huge space in our heart.

Thanks you for this wonderful expression of how I know we are all feeling.  I too, saw it up close from the front row of Section J and have tried to write what I saw and felt, but just couldn't find the words.
