Let's Hear It For .....

Let's hear it for Josh Henderson tonight.... he grew up a little in this game.
This was VERY close to a win.

CONQUER!!...., and PREVAIL!!!

I hope so; I was very happy to see him make some key plays!

Henderson played his best game of the year. We had this one, layup to win from our top guy then a wide open tip from our Junior, and another tougher tip from Bright, Tough loss but a gutty effort, I think they got better today

he did a very laudable effort numerous times in this game although I think there was one occasion where he blew the final shot of the first half, and there was a key short range jump shot he missed toward the end of the second half as well -- over all, he really made a number of good plays through the game. He's not perfection incarnate but he surprised people with spirited play and some strong moments. Good for him.

My favorite part was that he was aggressive enough to get in trouble with TV Teddy (ref) who got after both Josh and Stokes.  I was thinking "Is this really Josh?"

Give Henderson a full off-season of D1 conditioning and workouts and he's going to come back as one of the most improved players next year ... This is a guy who's been in mothballs with foot injuries for over a year ...

Thanks for bringing that up. A lot of us have forgotten that Josh barely played last year (although he played pretty well when he did) and was down from December or January through October. So not only is he very green for a redshirt sophomore, he's also just starting to get into something like playing shape. If he can stay healthy for a while, he could improve rapidly.

Re: Let's Hear It For .....

Very true; his efforts last night almost helped us win the game. At times during the season he has displayed potential on offense. What concerns me is his rebounding (or lack thereof). Even last night, in what was a very good night offensively, he had just 3 rebounds in 26 minutes, just 1 of them on the defensive boards. I hope that, when he returns next season -- stronger and in better shape -- he can do a a bit more to hold his own on the boards. As a team, we need to do a better job of limiting opponents' second chance points.
