I think most top recruits want to go to a program that has a
storied history of winning (Kentucky, Kansas, Duke, UNC, etc.). Throwing money doesn’t
really do that much after a certain point – Auburn built a beautiful new
basketball facility and South Carolina gave Frank Martin a large contract but I’m
doubtful this will help them at all.
The way to improve your program is simply make the tournament as many times as possible. Think of all the millions of people who fill out an office tournament bracket and all the articles that are written about the teams. You cant beat that sort of publicity.
