Was VU "whooped" or "whupped"?

Was VU "whooped" or "whupped"?

The Tennessean quoted Stallings as saying Missouri "whooped" us. This would mean that VU was yelled at by the Tigers, as in a war whoop. They should have used whupped, the Southern bastardization of whipped.

It's a small matter, but it really annoyed me.

Like Forrest Gump said, I think maybe it's both.

While we're on the subject, was the 32-2 run Missouri went on devastating or crushing?  I wasn't sure.

Also, at halftime did our team feel embarrassed, humiliated, or were they just shame-faced?

We really could use some more clarification around here!

I saw that and almost wrote a letter to the editor about it. Definitely should have been whipped or whupped. But that's what happens when a newspaper no longer values quality.
