John Jenkins will start playing now

Because of an injury to another Hawks player, Lou Williams.

I saw him last night in person and he needs to start doing a little more than standing on the perimeter or he is going to lose those minutes.

That's what I noticed just from watching the highlights.  It's painfully obvious next to the great perimeter shooters in the league like Ray Allen, who are constantly in motion off-ball.

Unless, of course, that's the coach's strategy. Given their two all-star big men (Smith and Horford) and their two penetrating guards (Teague and Harris), it would actually make sense for him to spot up like that. Also, you might not want to judge just by one game against the Spurs, who are playing excellent defense right now.

Exactly.  JJ is going to do what the coaches ask him to.  There was no mistake that he was camping out on the perimeter I'm sure.

Looks like he might get some minutes at point.

Well now that would be interesting. I knew they were doing the two-combo guard thing with Lou Williams, which worked because Teague and Harris are both good scorers, but I hadn't foreseen that with Jenkins. He's not a bad passer, actually, but there's a steep learning curve at PG in the NBA. Still, if anyone could teach him it would be Woodson...
