Jeter is going to be a stud!!
He looks better and better each game. Much more comfortable as well.
He has played a great first half. Actually, I think they have all played well in this 1st half.
Keep it up and let's get this win!!

I just wrote the same thing in the Darius thread. Jeter is fun to watch. Vandyman74 wrote:He looks better and better each game. Much more comfortable as well.

You apparently have made the right call on this one ... though I suspect that Stallings knew what he could do on offense and was waiting for him to catch up on his defense before adding to his minutes.

Re: Jeter is going to be a stud!!
I was about to post the same thing. Jeter will be all SEC before he leaves Vandy. Also I know some may not want to hear this, and yes this is a rebuilding year, but next season we will be a top third if not higher SEC team. The young team is getting a lot of experience, a very good transfer sitting out, and a good incoming Big man. Just give it a year.

We will not be better than UK next year. Florida is likely to be better than us as well. Any others? I think there will still be growing pains next year, with Jones just a freshman. We also could really use DJP to take his jump shot to that next level a la Beal/Taylor. My (way to early) guess for next year is between 4th and 8th in the SEC, and an appearance on the NCAA bubble. The following year however, I am already excited about.

RE: Jeter is going to be a stud!!
Does the SEC have an all-freshman team? If he continues to start, he might make that.
He will be good, like I said, I've watched him for 5 years since he was a skinny tall kid on the freshman team and he is the best player I have seen come out of our high school, but I'm only 33 and wasnt alive to see Joe Namath and a couple other greats we had in the 1970s. He flew a bit under the radar because of the football nature of our area and a broken wrist his junior year. I felt he was underated as the #150 prospect in the country but I'm obviously biased.
He's a good kid too, never got in any trouble that I know of.

RE: Jeter is going to be a stud!!
I'll admit I am excited for the future! And honestly I'm glad we weren't supposed to be very god this year because I enjoy just being able to watch them play ball and watch them grow as players without having to bite my fingernails the whole time.

Jeter's rebounding today was by far the most important aspect of his game.

bf1998, what the heck are you feeding these kids in Beaver Falls? Sheldon has the most SEC ready body of any freshman front court player we've had in years. bf1998 wrote: Does the SEC have an all-freshman team? If he continues to start, he might make that.

He's a good kid too, never got in any trouble that I know of. It's in the water I guess, it was a surprise he was so tall, 6-3 or 6-4 is normal for the Jeters, not 6-7 or 6-8. They are a basketball family, his uncle Lance won a state title in 2005 and went to one in 2006(lost to the Morris twins) and he was a PG for Nebraska, his aunt "Fred" won a D-2 national championship at New Haven and his dad played at Tenn-Chattanooga. Also his big brother Carliss jr was a role player on the 2005 championship team with Lance. The credit for putting the meat on goes to Sheldon, he got himself a personal trainer that specializes in weight training and he put a lot of beef on before senior year. But some credit goes to Vandy too because he looks even beefier than last season, must be some good food down there and I saw the video of them working out. He's a worker. He's come a long way, he used to get beat up when he was a sophomore if he went inside, he was very skinny. So he played guard. Oddly enough, he almost committed to South Carolina, he went on a visit when Horn was still the coach and he wanted to commit after Horn had Dwayne Wade call him on the phone but his dad told him to wait until after his Wisconsin and K-St visits, then Vandy came back in to the picture...

He has speed and he is learning to attack the basket and he has jumper Jeff Taylor did not have till later in his playing days, he looks to be the real deal.

RE: Jeter is going to be a stud!!
I disagree on speed. I think quickness and footwork are the two areas he needs to improve most. Otherwise, I think he has the raw talent to be great.

Great background info, bf! I hope you come back often and that Jeter continues to play this way!

Thanks bf. RE: Jeter is going to be a stud!!
Does anyone else think this is kind of shady? How does a teenager not do what his NBA hero requests? I wouldn't be as disturbed by this if Wade went to USC but he's probably never even been to the school and just knows Horn. Kudos to the Jeters for making a mature decision to wait.
