Re: So I'm watching the Rice-Memphis game...

They had Johnny Neumann within the last 50 years, too. I remember them beating a Roy Skinner team about 120-100 in Memorial his senior year.

He was the closest thing to Pete Maravich.

I was at that game. Actually, we WON 130-112. I believe we scored 75 points in the 2nd half. Neumann had around 60, I think. Not as flashy as Maravich, but smooth as silk. I also saw him play several games as a pro, with the Memphis Tams in the ABA. I was shocked that he never became a star in the pros.

Do you happen to have any old ABA memorabilia?

Details, details. I'm mighty proud my memory was 92% correct on the score. Who cares which team was which?   wink

Ole Miss actually led that game at haltime

60-54. In addition to Neumann, another player of note on that Ole Miss squad was Dave Rhodes, Mike Rhodes' (Country, of 'Town and Country') big brother.
