That right there shows they have the ability to shoot.

Of course with the way this messed up board has gone lately, it was all on the players for making 17 three pointers. They get 100% credit for making those 17 threes. However, its all CKS's fault those players went 10/23 from the FT line. CKS really screwed up when when the team missed 5 in a row in the last 2 minutes. He cannot allow that to happen!!

I believe it was MattEarls who posted about the future and I agree with him. This team has heart and desire and they are just having trouble putting it together. They do appear to be getting better though. You can see the tools, it just comes in spurts, our guys have to get better at sustaining it. I guess with the SECT anything is possible. Im hoping we can gain consitency and get it together by tourney time. With the defense usually always being there if we can gain offensive momentum and consistnecy, who knows what can happen.

Of course its only my opinion, but I think we have a very small handful of people that are ruining this board with their repeated rants about the same thing over and over again. You will say "you" dont but you cannot convince me that some of "you" are not happy when we lose. I think you enjoy it because you can nitpick and further your agenda against the coach. When Vanderbilt does good, there is never a good thing said unless it is clearly sarcastic or to belittle.

I agree CKS should have known how many timeouts he had if he ddint know (it appeared he didnt) but that had ZERO to do with us losing that game. IMO he asked for the TO in time anyways, I'd like to hear why it was not granted. For all we know, OM makes a 3 pointer anywyas, who knows? I do know if we just hit a pathetic 60% of our FT's all that end of game crap is moot. We shot 10/23 and had we made front ends of 1&1's we probaly could have shot closer to around 27 or 28 FT's. make 50% of those and we do not even go to OT.

There may be some who wish Stallings to lose to get rid of him but I will never be one of those.  I am 100% for Vandy and their great kids who bust their tails for this university in the class room and on the court/field/diamond whatever.  You are not a true Vandy fan if you pull for a loss. I was very complimentary of them when they almost beat a worse than average KY team and would have for last night’s heart breaker if I had been able to see the game.  It apparently was Memorial magic at its best like KY.  BUT like KY, Ole Miss despite their record is not great.  After all they lost to MTSU worse than we did though quite early in the year.  The point is I don’t like seeing the players lose because of coaching problems and I won’t take the time to enumerate them.  That has been done ad nauseum. And there are more than a few fans who agree with this accessment.  We have a head coaching problem and despite you sticking your head in the sand that will not go away until the University recognizes it and that this coach will not, despite his success, take us to greatness.  You have to admit that if you are a rational person. Yes Coach Stalling is good and perhaps the best we have had though that is certainly debatable. BUT he is not a great coach on the floor and has fallen in his abilities over the last few years.  He can recruit but he can’t motivate as evidenced by his record of getting us to the Sweet 16 much less then elite 8 which is where great teams strive for and where we should expect every few years.  We can do that and  should have last year with the second best talent in the country according to the NBA relative to a GREAT school like North Carolina. If they can do it along with Duke with their great academic reputation we should be able to also. Nough said!

I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with your post, but you do make lots of valid points.

NOTE: This post does not address or "take sides" in the topic of retaining or not retaining the current coaching staff of any sport at Vanderbilt University or at any other school or entity, collegiate or professional.

Did you see the game? 'Cause Ole Miss was a darned good team. Excellent inside play, good ball handlers, good perimeter shooters (though their % on threes was not great), & good penetrators.

Ole Miss will be going to the Dance in March. Book it. Now that doesn't make them "great" in your book, I realize. But they're not a bad team in any way shape or form, except for Henderson's "emotional issues" (to put it as nicely as possible).

They lost by 3 to MTSU, not "worse than we did", but like it or not MTSU are not a bad team at all.

Ole Miss' worst loss was actually to Indiana State in OT on a neutral court. ISU is above .500, but not as far above as MTSU is.

But that's it: they've lost only those two games. They're 3-0 in the SEC, & before us they downed #10 Missouri, who many thought would only be challenged by UF in the SEC.

Taking Ole Miss to OT was nothing to be ashamed of, even at our place. It was no moral victory, but it was arguably our team's best game of the season. We lost to a clearly better team.
