Rivals has him as a 2 star actually, but 247 has him as a 3 star.

He was at our summer camp last week so the staff must have liked what they saw.

More Info

Here

When it does come time to make a decision, there will be one focus.

“Mostly academics,” said Pfeifer, who has a 3.5 grade point average. “Just the reality of making it to the NFL isn't that big. I want to get an education in business marketing.”

And Here

"Pfeifer is a strong college guard with great fundamentals and technique. That alone will take him far...I think he could be an SEC level guard that is redshirted in his freshman year."

So we have four commits and three 2013 state champions. We are getting talented, academically-minded kids who know how to win.

Re: New Commit! OT Ean Pfeifer

is anybody the slightest bit concerned with his offer list, which doesn't contain a single 'BCS' school? I was really hoping Mason would keep up the recruiting momentum that Franklin started. It looks like it's safe to say that we are somewhere safely in between CBJ and CJF recruitingwise now.

Careful Dox....name calling is only allowed here when you disagree with anything going on over there, then you will be a Negative Nancy or Debbie Downer. Pfeifer is under the radar and a perfect fit for the system. Remember Cutler and JMatt were 2 stars! Besides, these rankings are bunk. Get with it!

Seriously, I hope Pfiefer is the next Wesley Johnson, but to answer your question....yes. We'll see.

I trust the staff's judgment on his football ability. It concerns me that he wants to study marketing at a school with no undergraduate business degree program.

People who want to do that either go HOD, econ, communications, or create their own major. Not really an issue.

Since it's June of a very small class year then they had to have loved him at camp to accept his commit which is good enough for me.

He did have an offer from San Diego and they run an offense similar to the one we seem to be planning on running so maybe he does fit the scheme.  Not trying to be a Little Miss Sunshine, just noticed that one offer that made sense.

We all know that a Psychology major can lead to a very successful marketing career.

Well no, because your comparison isn't true.

The "rankings" of our recruiting class so far, are squarely in line with Franklin's recruiting. Mostly 3-stars with very few 4-stars mixed in.

Also, keep this in mind: How many of Franklin's 4-star recruits will be starting this fall?  Zero.

Absolutely correct. Presumably he will come to see that. For a guy supposedly keyed in on academics he might have looked into this point. No matter. I am thrilled a big strong smart OL is joining.

Am I missing something?  He has an offer from Arkansas.  Bielema may have had a rough start to his career but I think he knows a thing or two about building a mauling offensive line from his days at Wisconsin.

I think the Arky offer speaks volumes.

Glad to have you Ean!

Re: New Commit! OT Ean Pfeifer

Where did you see an offer from Arkansas listed?  In any event, anyone worried about his star rating needs to realize that Rivals rates anyone that they have not evaluated a 2-star.  Meaning they know NOTHING about the kid, and therefore have nothing to base a "star-rating" upon.  Most seem to value a 247 ranking more anyway, since most of the 247 guys are the same ones who started Rivals back in the early 2000's.

If he's as serious about his education as it sounds like he is, and a likely redshirt candidate, he'll be in Owen while he's still playing football.
