Warren Norman??
Anybody else hear that Warren is leaving VU? Just saw that on twitter. Hope that is not true as he is a fine representative of Vanderbilt. Hate that his injury seems to have taken away what was a bright fb career, but hoping that he finishes his education whether he's moving on or not

Re: Warren Norman??
Dang...hate that. Also saw on twit just now that he would be graduating in 2 months. Every hot shot recruit everywhere should have to read Warren's story. Perfect example of why you go to college to get an education first, play sports second.

Re: Warren Norman??
Good Luck to Mr Norman and yes things don't always work out as planned or as you wish but Warren will always have that degree from Vanderbilt which will serve him well.

Re: Warren Norman??
One of Warren's tweets said something a bit negative about VUMC. I don't know what it was about. Maybe he failed a physical?

RE: Warren Norman??
I saw about a month ago that he was going to study abroad this summer. I thought that was weird considering so much is put on the summer workouts.

Re: Warren Norman??
I'll always be grateful to Warren Norman for being a Commodore. He has certainly provided some highlights, some exciting moments, which contribute to where the program is today. He has certainly had the opportunity to achieve some highs in life which most of us only dream about. Hopefully, he has become an even better person through the adversity he has faced. Having a Vanderbilt degree to accompany him through life should lessen the blow of that adversity. He is, in my mind, a 'Dore for life.
Best wishes Warren Norman!! Thanks for being a part of the Vanderbilt family I so much enjoy following.

As for Norman, I hate to see him go but in a way I am glad. Glad for him because honestly I just didn't see him ever coming back to form from the injury, and why chase something that isn't there and further damage your body for the future? I think he is making the right choice and I am happy for him.

Re: Warren Norman??
Warren is no doubt one of my all time favorite Dores. I've had the opportunity to speak with him several times and I never saw the fire leave his eyes. If the rumors of him going on and graduating are accurate, I certainly wish him the best. I know how hard it is to walk away from a sport you've sacrificed so much for.
I'll go on to say that I haven't seen anything mentioned other than a tweet from a fan who referenced seeing the news on vandysports.com and I haven't made my way over there to fact check and I don't see Warren making any references that indicate him leaving either. Just my own observations...

Norman and Stacy
these two backs came in together and were kind of a "break through" in recruiting for us at the time.
If memory serves, Stacy was slightly more hyped - but both came in with high expectations. Stacy got dinged early and Norman had a freshman year that was outstanding. In fact, I believe he was a freshman all-American? He broke some serious all-purpose yards records - because he was a rb, but also a stud return man. "Stormin' Warren Norman" was the face of Vandy football that year.
Unfortunately, he got hurt and never was able to return to form. To me it is sad he never got a real chance after the injury to return kicks. He had a special gift of vision and instinct to find the gaps and go. But after the injury, he seemed to lack the same burst...
Meanwhile, once Stacy recovered from his injury, he stormed into the starting role and never looked back.
Both leave us with a ton of good memories. Both were part of the class that brought bowl appearances and turned this thing around. Injuries are a part of the game - and very much affected how these two players' Vandy careers started and finished. I will always remember both of them very, very fondly.

Re: Norman and Stacy
He broke Herschel Walker's SEC Freshman single season all puprose yards record. It was crazy output by Mr. Norman that year. SEC Freshman of the Year. Very special kid and a special moment in his life, if I had to guess.
He was a dim light flickering in the darkness that characterizes Vandy football in the two years leading up to the Franlklin era in which we now enjoy.

Re: Norman and Stacy
If this is true then that's a real shame. He had just said in December that he would be coming back for a 5th year. Whatever the case may be, I will always appreciate Warren Norman and wish him the best.

Re: Warren Norman??
I am by no means a twitter guy, so I may have no idea what I'm doig here, but this is the only thing I could find on \Normans twitter feed: Warren Norman @ WarNoAliVUMC tryna hold me back!
The only thing I can read from that for sure is that Warren very much still wants to play.

He sort of gave us this little glimpse of the future. I still love his soul-crushing 80 yard or so run against Ole Miss. That was about the only highlight we had all year!

Re: Warren Norman??
He's still listed on the roster on their web page. Lewis and Hart are not listed so I'm not sure about Norman. I hope he comes back at 100%. ANCHOR DOWN DORES !!!!

Re: Warren Norman??
He was really really good. Let's not forget that he was a cut above Stacy when healthy, and that's no small compliment. It's sad, as in the modern era, players come back from that injury better and more often than a generation ago. It's very heartening that he is going to graduate. Perhaps he could hook up with another school, maybe a 1-AA, for his final year of eligibility, but I suspect that after three seasons of dealing with the injury, he considers himself done in that regard.

RE: Warren Norman??
Thank you Warren for being the only Commodore playing with fire in his belly against West Point. It was a shame that many of his big plays were called back for penalties.

I'm not sure this thread isn't going a little too far. I can't find where Warren said he was leaving.
