Jalen Hurd and Josh Malone

Probably a top 3 RB (Hurd) and a top 15 Receiver (Malone) are just up the road in Sumner County.  These guys are big time players.  I know we will not get outworked but getting one or both of them can only grow the area's fan base.  I was hoping Jalen Ramsey would have stayed home but it just didn't happen.  Every school which finished in the Top 25 of recruiting yesterday will be making a pilgrimage to Sumner County many times in the next 365 days.

I don't know about the Malone kid, but I understand that at this time Hurd's top 3 are Ohio State, Florida, and Georgia--not necessarily in that order. VU is in the top 10 and will be in serious contention. I haven't heard that UT is in the mix, for what it's worth.

But UT fans think they are in the mix for every 5* seeing what a great HISTORY the program has.  Jalen Hurd was a toddler the last time UT was even remotely important in football.  I suppose they are hoping these top recruits totally overlook what UT has done in the past 5 years.

Most importantly, don't forget...you can't spell BUTtCHugger without UT and Butch!

Hopefully, we can get a couple of 4 star commitments in the next 60 days that set the tone for this recruiting class and provides enthusiasm for others to join. Ol

If they decided today, VU would be a player for Hurd, not for Malone.

Malone doesn't have the grades or the interest?

RE: Jalen Hurd and Josh Malone

He has the grades, just not the interest in VU. That could change, but we wouldn't be a player right now. Unfortunately I think he would join the chuggers if he had to make the decision today.

UT won the SEC East 5 years ago...how old is this kid if he was a toddler 5 years ago?

They tied for the east 6 years ago when they were ranked #14 with #2 ranked UGA and then UT fired Fulmer the next year. They did not win the east 5 years ago.

RE: Jalen Hurd and Josh Malone

I really want to keep more of these kids home. Of course, the staff does as well.
This spring and summer will be interesting to see the benefits of all of the publicity, a 9 win season and a bowl victoy.

CJF & staff needs to camp out

on Jalen Hurd's doorstep.  This is a program changer recruit and he's right in your backyard, and you need running backs.  CJF won't let this kid get out of middle Tennessee without a fight.  I'm not an expert, but I expect Vandy to be a player with Hurd.

I'm sure this guy is a take under any circumstance, but we're pretty loaded with WR prospects right now.  Wouldn't be the worst thing if we missed out.

Who played in the SEC CG at the end of the 2007 season?  Regardless of whether they won the East or were co-champions....the statement was a response to the post "Hurd was a toddler the last time UT was even remotely important in football."

So that leads us to two questons:
1) If you go to the SEC CG (and finish in the top 15), are you "remotely important in football";
2) If so, was Jalen Hurd a toddler at the end of the 2007 football season?

BTW....

Hurd is visiting UT this weekend.

It's really crazy how far UT has fallen so fast.  Hurd might not have been a toddler in 2007, but I think the underlying point is that UT can't sell the same recent success as the real SEC powerhouses these days.  I'm not sure pointing to a 2 TD loss in the SEC CG that happened three coaches ago does much to disprove that point.

Even if Franklin can't sell Hurd on VU, I'm sure he can provide the same solid advice that he provided to Vonn Bell.

Re: CJF & staff needs to camp out

If he gets any taller he wont be anyones RB. Dude is already 6-3.5. one more half inch and he's a TE or WR. If he does stay at RB he wont last long from all the leg shots he will inevitably take. I would recruit him as an athlete and find other options at RB.

Man, you would go right out of your mind if Ole Miss took Hurd right out of your home county....and became the 17th running back on our roster.....wouldn't you?

Just as long as we keep beating Ole Miss five out of six years, they can take whomever they want.  We heard the same thing about their awesome recruiting under Coach O.
