Just got an upsetting phone call
I just got a call from the ticket office. I was told because of the success of the team I am losing my seats in section G so recruits can use them. I don't understand why I am losing the seats I have had for 5 seasons when in those 5 seasons the 5 to 6 seats in the row in front of me have almost always been empty. I was given the option too be to section A at a cost increase of over $200. It sounds like I have no other option then to lose them and move. It just does not seem right.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Just got an upsetting phone call
That's ridiculous and unacceptable. You should e-mail David Williams or Coach Franklin.

Re: Just got an upsetting phone call
For real? I have seats in Section G, also. Are your seats in the lowest rows? Moving to section A does not seem right - those seats should cost no more than section G.

Re: Just got an upsetting phone call
I am in row 27. There are usually seats to the left of us and also in the row in front of us empty each game. If I get the same call, I'll let you know. Thanks for the heads up.

RE: Just got an upsetting phone call
I wonder if it is because I am a Vandy employee. I just think it is a bad way to treat fans that have been supporting the team before their success.

Re: Just got an upsetting phone call
Definitely understand the frustration... If it makes you feel any better, I'm pretty sure all seat prices will be going up as our success (thankfully!) will have now altered supply & demand. Very reasonable though for you to ask for some kind of benefit in return for your sacrifice (maybe some free vanderbilt gear or discounted basketball tickets or discounted season baseball tickets or whatever else you can think of)
Anchor down! Go dores!

Re: Just got an upsetting phone call
I understand the price of tickets going up but for the cost of two season tickets to go up over $200 in one season is crazy to me. Also I just looked at the seating chart on the website and section A is not even a Commodores season ticket holder section. When she was talking it made it seem like a done deal no negotiation was going to happen. Every game that I have been to I see all the recruits in the lower rows by the field. I guess I just love where my seats are now and cant understand why/how out of all the empty seats in section G mine are two that are being taken away.

Re: Just got an upsetting phone call
Welcome to the big leagues? The competition in our conference demands a $500 minimum for the right to to purchase tix in the nosebleed section. Ticket demand is a good thing.

Re: That's crap. They should reserve recruits some seats in....
the student section, since it's never full anyway-- even if we're kicking arse.

That doesn't sound right. You sure it wasn't one of the Tuiasosopo boys expanding their range of prank calls?

RE: Just got an upsetting phone call
Just got off the phone again with the ticket office and it seem like anyone row 1-39 will be losing their seats. Are they really going to have that many recruits coming to the games that they have to move around that many people so they will have a place to sit?

Thanks for listening. Give me a break dude. How about, get over yourself, stop whining and get some other seats. It's not like these seats have been in your family for 50 years. The recruits are more important than you, and frankly, I just can't believe you are on here whining about this. Big deal, get over it. I don't think you're that big of a fan, if you care more about yourself than about the recruits, Coach Franklin or the future of the program.

Although I think you are being too harsh here, I tend to agree more with your view of this than the others saying "poor you." Franklin has apparently determined that it is important to the future of the program that those seats be available for recruits. Like was said above, we are fortunate to be able to buy SEC season tickets for such a reasonable price anyway. I certainly see why one would be disappointed by this, but I don't get the butt-hurt.

Re: What a whiner
Sorry, but I disagree. It is not whining. In my case, a NCC member, you have chosen the same seats for years, and enjoy the friends and other folks that have also sat near you for years. Sure, I TOTALLY support the team, but unless the team and the administration is paying for my tickets, I feel like I have a right to have an opinion about abrupt seat changes. Section A seats are not as good - I sat there one game when I gave my regular tickets to a friend. You might as well be sitting in the grassy endzone.

Re: What a whiner
You're right they have not been in my family for 50 years. And you're also right that the recruits are important. Am I the biggest Vandy fan probably not compared to others but I have been going to Vandy games since the new hill was only wooden bleachers. But thank you for pointing out that I am a whiner and need to get over myself.
