Perry to place 1000 texas guard at the border...

Not sure I believe it, hope it's true. Not seeing anything on the web to fully confirm it....think I found it. Woohoo!

State Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa (D-McAllen) confirmed the pending announcement of Perry’s decision to deploy 1,000 soldiers from the Texas National Guard to the border. The goal of the guard deployment is to bolster the work of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers, according to Jennifer Saenz, a spokesperson for Sen. Hinojosa.

It's about time.  The "president" won't do anything to enforce and uphold the law.

Obama sees the law like his wife sees a buffet...pick and choose.

Assuming this is successful in curbing the uncontrolled flow of illegals, it will be a brilliant move for Perry's 2016 aspirations.  The polls all show the American public thinks this situation is being handled wrong, and Perry will be the only candidate who can say "look I have a history of tough decisions to control our borders and keep your families safe".  If will also highlight how little effort it really takes to control the situation which will make Emperor Obama and all his court jesters look really foolish heading into midterms and 2016.

Re: Perry to place 1000 national guard at the border...

Saw something a few weeks ago I have never seen discussed. Perry said that along the borders of CA., AZ., and NM. the border patrol has 17 agents for every mile. Along the TX. border, they only have 7 agents for every mile.

I don't know if that's real bad or just so-so. But if true, its a hell of a difference.

That's the downside to this action.

this is so transparent.  kenya barry and the demo goons don't care any more about the "plight" of the illegals than the R's do, but they DO care that once they get them in the states they will get their votes.  that is the only thing that matters here: votes for D's

I don't know why that would be surprising. Those other three states have a linear border (re: about as short a border as possible) while Texas has a meandering river that greatly lengthens the border. If you've travelled a river, you'll travel many more miles than you would to drive along the side of the river. Nothing shocking about this.

Thanks for the topo lesson.

An example of the mismanagement of border agent placement goes like this:

"One example of the staffing mismatch: the roughly 2,500 agents in the San Diego sector arrested 97 immigrants illegally crossing the border on June 14, according to an internal document reviewed by The Associated Press. On the same day, the roughly 3,200 agents in the Rio Grande Valley made 1,422 arrests."

http://www.usatoday.com/story/...laces/11705315/

California has a 140 mile border with Mexico compared to Texas 1, 241 mile border. Winding river or not, Texas has a longer border with many more illegal crossings. Its a huge difference in man power and enforcement. Rhetorical question: why?

The point is that they're not PREVENTING anything. They're not going to dissuade these people from crossing.

Spitting in the wind -- IMO.    Its like caulking the trim, when the roof is leaking like a sieve.

so, throw in the towel
let's open the borders to everyone and take them in, feed them, house them, etc.
won't cost much either

let cartels shoot at us without retaliation
great plan

Because that's what I was saying…

This needs to be taken care of with expedition of the legal system. This does nothing but waste tax money… well except get ironic applause from people who want to reduce spending.
