Whenever you get mad as hell about it all, grab your rifle and head outside. If you are the only one there...it's not time yet.

sounds like a 90s virus outbreak movie.  Just waiting for a containment breach at the Atlanta hospital to be revealed in about 4-5 months.

I've actually developed a bad cough and have these weird splotches all over my back after bringing in some passengers from London that originated in Kenya.  Do you want to meet up for tea at our local hang out?  biggrin

Why in the world would we voluntarily bring the disease into the country?

Yep, the arrogance of man...and it does sound like the beginning of a bad Hollywood movie as AggieCPA suggested.

It's only spread through human contact, not through the air.

Until someone spits, coughs, sneezes, or pukes on someone else. Given the 21 day incubation time before symptoms start, this could be a problem.

If the health care workers who are being transported to Atlanta caught it, doesn't it make sense that there's a chance the health care workers who care for them over here might catch it?

Maybe there's some information I'm missing but on the surface this looks like an idiotic move.

Re: Hey, let's import some Ebola...

International travelers bring so much crud into this country on a daily basis, that our immune systems are constantly "rebooting" themselves.  An Indian woman came into our store the other day with a rasping cough that sounded like something from an Exorcist movie. eek   People began gathering personal belongings and dragging kids away -- some almost running.  They cleared the area within seconds   Her throat culture would laugh at Ebola.  Yes, going out in public can be disgusting.  disbelief

If Ebola can ONLY be spread by contact of bodily fluids from an infected person, how in the world did the health care workers catch it? Are they not wearing gloves, masks, scrubs, goggles, etc?

Assuming Liberia's healthcare system is anywhere close to the sophistication of the US healthcare system is rather silly.
