Looking forward to week 4 personally. I've seen Stony Point come a long way.

If the game was in DeSoto, I'd make the drive. That was the game that struck me the most on the schedule.

Beat the hated "insert name of next opponent"!

When I am watching their weekly highlights show of games around the state, I usually FF through the "DQ Big Game of the Week" segment. Usually those "big games" features too many of the "little guys" that not many care about anyway (IMO), don't care for the dude that handles that segment (although I really can't stand the a** clown Renner) and the features outside of the game are pretty useless.

The 'little guys' are the most interesting IMO.  Small towns shut down for football.  Every person in town hangs on the wins and losses and the games are the talk of town.  Another cool thing about DQ GOW is that you learn the tradition behind rivalies.

What is your definition of "little guy"?

I don't see any 6 man games listed on there.biggrin

My old coach pronounced it "MAH-nee-hans," as in "ya'll better pick it up. Those boys over in MAH-nee-hans are workin' harder than you are!"

Don't want to sound stupid but can someone say why the first two games should be of interest? I'm assuming we have recruits playing in those games but I don't know which ones. Can anyone fill me in?

Snyder has one of our commits in Keenon Ward.  Tatum's QB has Jalen Overstreet, a guy that is considering Tech (and we are looking at him pretty hard too).

Frenship kicked Snyder pretty good last week in the scrimmage.

How much did Ward play in the scrimmage?  I'd imagine the whole offense is going to center all around him.

Yeah I came from a small town in the Permian Basin (Andrews) so I know all about small town football. I still remember the miles long caravans of cars to/from other towns for Friday night football.

For the most part I just don't care about 3A and below unless it involves Andrews (they dropped from 4A to 3A a few years ago) or teams in their district. So the Monahans vs Snyder matchup is the only one that meets that criteria. The only other reason I would be interested in one of those "little guy" games is to see a stud recruit in action. I care nothing about learning the tradition behind small town rivalries.

But that's just me. Your mileage may vary. cool

Fort Stockton Texas here. I remember getting our faces kicked in from them boys in Andrews as a kid growing up. Andrews has kind of fallen off of the map in the last decade though. The Monahans/Snyder matchup is always a good one. It usually involves a top 10 team (a lot of times they both are) and at least one of them (again usually both) go pretty far in the 3A playoffs. If I could get away and head back west for a weekend it surely would be that one. Too much stuff right now in the DFW, however.
