"Sad day for Texas Tech..." ?

Why did Ryan Hyatt tweet that a few minutes ago? He didn't elaborate. Is he unhappy with TCU?

I think it has to do with Tech having to compete more for recruits in the DFW area.

Did our admin already plan on buying company I-Phone 6's?

Seriously though, if it about competing for recruits and that's what his tweet was about, then we shouldn't have voted yes. It was unanimous so....

No he is just clueless with regard to recruiting landscapes.

Adding TCU to the Big-12 just reduced A&M's SEC attraction in DFW.

Now Tech doesn't have to fight off A&M's "SEC" crap when recruiting the metroplex.  You just have to sell Tech over TCU, which is easier.

I'm feeling pretty neutral to adding TCU. Is the Big 12-3 really that much better than the Big 12-3+1 (TCU) or vice versa? Not really.

The truely sad day was when we got rejected by the PAC-12 again, even after many - including Hyatt, said that we had a standing offer without UT.

Anyone with any degree of perception understands that adding TCU to the conference is a lose-lose situation for Texas Tech University.  A sad day indeed.

WHEN WILL WE EVER LEARN???

I'd like to hear your credentials for having any degree of perception that makes your opinion matter more than anyone else's.

This was the game-changing concept that got TCU voted in.  The Big-12 needs to smother out any of A&M's future "SEC" aggressions on the state of Texas.  Granted, the Big-12 already outnumbered the SEC 3 teams to 1, but 4 teams to 1 seemed like a safer ratio.  And what better place to nip the forthcoming "SEC" wave in the bud, but the DFW metroplex.

But what about all the DFW punks that never come to Lubbock?  Don't they win?  Oh yeah, they probably won't even go watch Tech play in their own backyard.  devil

All this recruiting talk makes it sound like we have had top a ranked recruiting classes in the past. cTT doesn't stick to one state or area

RE: "Sad day for Texas Tech..." ?

Well A&m just got more attractive being in the SEC and TCU just got more attractive getting onto the Big12. Texas Tech has maintained the same position. So every new recruit is just that little bit more inclined to go to the other schools in the conf vs us. I'm not saying we won't win those battles, but they just got tougher.

Re: "Sad day for Texas Tech..." ?

Seeing the ut conference vote in tcu made me throw up in my mouth.  This conference, if it lasts another year or two is gonna die a slow and painful death.  It's sad to me because the Big 12 was once a proud conference and year in year out was one of the top 2 or 3 in the country in just about ANY sport.

Now, if ut keeps adding spares even ut might not make it to the NC game if the go undefeated in conference play.  It will be rich to watch that happen though...I will enjoy it.

They are in the SEC, the best football conference in the country while we are stuck in this abortion of a conference. A&M will always be able to recruit Texas, because they still play the majority on their games IN THE STATE OF TEXAS.

You are such an idiot Brown, please GTFO.
