Charlie Strong describes Kliff's coaching style.

Charlie Strong describes Kliff's coaching style.

TM: So you probably missed the controversy and the jokes when the DMN website revived an old quote by Lou Holtz saying you were not a "hip-hop coach?"

CS: Oh, Coach Holtz is one of my mentors. What did he mean by that?

TM: He seemed to mean that you were old-school. That you "could have coached for Woody Hayes."

CS: I don't think it's so much hip-hop. I think that he looked at it as someone without all the bells and whistles. A guy may think he can go dance, but that's not me. I don't need to motivate my players by going out there dancing and rapping. They get motivated the right way."

- Grabbed from Aggy website. Texas Monthly interview of Charlie Strong. After reading this little shot at KK, I want him unemployed and disgraced by the EOS.  KK is doing wonderful things for our players and turning them into men. This "Coach" that hasn't even beaten UNT yet has the gaul to belittle KK's efforts to make our program enjoyable and fresh.

Welp. CS can go F himself in the A

It has demanded us to deliver up our arms, which are essential to our defense, the rightful property of freemen, and formidable only to tyrannical governments.

Where did he call out KK? There have been a lot of coaches dancing with their players during practice. You see a clip of pretty often of different coaches around the country doing so.

The only jab is that he indicated his style of motivation was the 'right' way.  Doesn't offend me.  Of course he's going to say his style is better.  He's not into being a 'players coach'.  He's never going to dance with the team to get them pumped up.  Thats his prerogative and it's also the prerogative of all the Texas high school recruits to decide whether they want to play for Strong or Kingsbury.  I'm guessing the the latter wins out.  biggrin

I am so excited for the new era of the Texas Tech Vs. Texas rivalry.  Kingsbury Vs. Strong.  It's time we turn things around against the evil empire.

Bulletin Board material.  Lets just see if you can do in a real conference, what you did in that Arena Football Conference you came from (even if you do have the best talent).  Just ask Dana what its like (head) coaching in the Big 12.   I would love to see that quote come around at the end of the season before a certain game.  THAT would motivate some players..

Re: Charlie Strong describes Kliff's coaching style.

Literacy is a real problem with UT football players. So to help with communication, they hired an illiterate coach.

It was a pointless statement. You know damn well he was talking about Tech and too some extent TAMU. There was no reason to throw in the "right way" comment. KK and staff has connected with the players on the team and as pointed out earlier, we have had less off incidents. UT on the other hand is not responding to his "right way" tactics. KK doesn't go after other team's or coaches in the media. Why he said it at all is fairly befuddling considering all the issues with his program and that he should focused on fixing those problems more than other coaches.

There's some guys that you just don't give additional fuel for their fire. I see KK as one of those guys.

Game on Charlie.

I hope you're right and I hope with everything in me that we contribute mightily to his unemployment.

Whether he pointed these comments at KK or not they certainly reveal how insecure he is about what he is doing

I've noticed if you beat a team, the coach tends not to talk ****. Let's just won.
