Crowded WR in 2013

Crowded WR in 2013

Which is a good thing!

We have a lot of explosive WR, Grant, Davis, Wheeler, Polite-Gray, & Lauderdale. However, 2 of the 4 newbies won't contribute much for whatever reason. That is OK because we only need to hit on 2. Hitting on more is a bonus! Even just hitting on 2 makes us a MUCH more explosive O.

Then we still have the physical WR. Hopefully Amaro makes a full recovery. Eric Ward ( for 1 more seasen), Gary Moore & Dylan Cantrell, from this class, which 1 will have to play this season.

Then there are some less heralded guys where it is very likely to find a surprise or 2.

EDIT: I added Ward after seeing TTUFirebird's point.

Beat the hated "insert name of next opponent"!

Re: Crowded WR in 2013

Last year we had arguably the best group in history going into the season (at least top 3).  I'm more excited that we have a coach who can do something with all this WR talent.  I was also pleased that KK doesn't offer four RBs - half of which fail out or leave early.  IMO, that artficially inflates how good the class looks.  If you really want to know how good a class is, ignore RB and take a deeper look. I'm pleased with the start and it will only get better.

Gary Moore looks to play DE before it's all said and done.

I'm most excited to see Davis starting in the spring.  I'm not sure Marquez will win a starting gig back after Davis gets the reps.  He's got the best hands on the team from what I've been told.  Plus, he was the 100 meter state champ in high school.  Raider nation is going to love this guy.

Maybe he was talking about Dylan Cantrell, but had his mind on Davis Webb?  Only plausible explanation.

They say he will be a beast of a DE once they put some weight on him. I'm assuming that means he will redshirt for sure.

Wheeler and Davis will contribute this season. I can't believe people have forgotten about them. Well I can excuse Note after what he has been through eek It seems like everyone has written Marquez off and I don't understand that at all noidea

This set of receivers only problem will be touches, how do you get so many talented athletes the ball?

We thought that last year too, then we lose Bell, Marquez and Amaro. Can't have too much depth at receiver.

Re: Crowded WR in 2013

Derek Edwards hasn't shown much yet & he is a 2011 signee who enrolled in the spring. He could be a slow developer like Filani or Eric Ward, but w/ the upcoming competition, he needs to step quick.

I didn't include Eric Ward as he only has 1 more season & I'm looking at the next 5 years or so.

But your thread title says "in 2013." Eric should be included. He will be a huge part of this team next season.

Was mentioned on Tech Talk that it was decided that Clark is going to the defensive side of the ball.

RE: Crowded WR in 2013

Eric Ward is physical and the most dependable receiver returning.
Need a tough catch against tight coverage? Eric is the Man.
He will flat go get it.
