Tech drops 60 points in recruiting list

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/highschool/news/2 0130117/college-football-recruiting-risers-and-fal lers/

Expert puts the drop from #26 to #86 all at the feet of Tubs....the P.O.S.

Still not worried, Kliff will get it done. The chatter from the recruiting guys I follow on twitter suggest that 2014 will be an extremely good class for Texas Tech.

Damn you TommyBoy!

UT has had top 5 classes the last three years. Their record the last three years 8-4, 5-7 and 8-4. Recruiting rankings dont mean anything!!!!

RE: Tech drops 60 points in recruiting list

Trust me, this is not as bad as it seems. We didn't graduate very many kids this year and we are pretty young so there isn't much of a need for immediate help at any of the positions, other than DB, which KK is addressing very well.

Also, I think that KK is taking the approach that Sumlin took this year with recruiting. A&M signed a very small class this year on the gamble that they will have a productive season and use that momentum to have a good, large class. Currently, Sumlin will sign the best class ever at A&M in two weeks and KK hopes to follow suit.

FYI, it appears that KK will probably sign an extemely well rounded class this next year.

ou is losing more battles than usual and is competing for 4th and 5th choices now.

They are losing momentum year after year.

That said, hope we keep Cody Hays, has lots of upside.

Nice observation!

I like how he said that we aren't hitting the recruiting trail hard...

One mediocre recruiting class won't kill us. I think we all knew that Tubs wasn't going to have a very good class had he stayed anyway.

So true.

2008 recuiting rankings vs. this years final rankings

Stanford and South Carolina were the only 2 top ten teams that did not have a top 25 recruiting class.

Texas was ranked 16th in recruiting in 2008.  They finshed 18th.  Pretty durn acurate.

Recruiting does matter.

Let's wait & see how this class finishes before we deem it mediocre. Lollar and the kid from cu are essentially part of this class. I think there's a lot to like with this group.

That is true Zeb.  Lollar, if he stays healthy, will be a great addition to the DL.  The CU transfer could probably come in and contribute from day 1.  I think we are fine at WR.  If we lose the JC OT Savage then hopefully they have someone lined up in his place.  I think KK has a few surprises in store for us.  This will be the most exciting signing day in years.

I'd trade the recruiting ranking for a real coach any day of the week.

RE: Tech drops 60 points in recruiting list

As I have said, I don't care about recruiting rankings as much as I care about the player(s) having a hook to hang their schollie on. Tho I think we have a chance to move up, I like the players we have. While some don't have the offers or ranking, they all have virtues that lead me to believe that they will contribute, which hasn't always been the case
