reform amendments

To the great people of South Carolina:

I don't believe that the government will ever make reforms to make the economy good again. I don't believe they will cut taxes or spending enough to restart the economy again. I doubt they will ever secure the borders and we will continue to become a poor 3rd world country. I also don't believe that the government will stop sending our poor soldiers tover to no win police actions for 5 years or more. I believe wall street banks control almost all of our reps and have a errible agenda. I believe the system is broken and needs reforms.  Many conservatives still believe in the constiution, but I believe that the constitution is defective. I love the bill of rights and other amendments, but I think our rights and prosperity are dying because of our government system. I believe that the anti federalists of 1788 were right ,and the constitution sets up a small group of rulers who will always be corrupt. I believe that the senate should only serve two year terms like the House. I believe the House and senate should only serve four sets of two year terms. Giving the criminals in the senate 6 years to destroy this country is insane.I think that probably the house and definitely the senate are too small and will always be paid off. I would have a larger House and then replace the Senate with a popular vote by the States. A majority of the States can cut spending, and 28 states by a popular vote would be needed to spend more money. I would also prefer a Confederated democracy to what  we have now with fairly large elective bodies that never leave their states and serve two year terms. We atleast have to have an amendment where a majority of the States can vote to stop any act by the National government, and this can be done by state legislatures or a popular vote. The people of the States and their reps have to become the government because the reps of the national govt. are corrupt beyond repair.
The judiciary is dangerous and broken too. The supreme court should also have term limits of about two sets of four years. These idiots should serve for life. I also would have the Supreme court be picked by the states.
I would also have bills passed by the legislature at a rate like 52 percent not be reviewable by the supreme court. Why do we elect representatives if 5 unelected oligarchs can overrule them. I think the presidents veto should be reduced too as he is given dictator powers in my opinion.
I have ranted long enough. I love the Southern people and the other traditional people of this country. I want the America they knew to be a reality. If that is to happen we must take control of our states and communities. The people must make the decisions if America is to survive, not the criminal oligarchs.
Take care and bless God!!

Re: reform amendments

The system is not broken. Our society and the mindset of the people running it is. There is no fundamentally sound baseline from which the goverment operates anymore.  While I realize the United States is known as a melting pot, the people who have come here over the past couple of centuries came here for the way of life we lived and the possibility of building something for themselves, not the way of life we have now.

From our earliest history man has had to work for, hunt for and make what he needed to survive. They followed the food, went where the jobs were, and looked for sustenance and freedom as a matter of survival. The caveman followed the herds, the Quakers and Protestants came here for religious freedom, and the Irish came here to escape the potato famine and make a new life.  They all knew it wouldn't be easy, and knew they would have to earn that living and fight for that freedom.  True Freedom is a thing of the past in this country.

Freedom has become a subject of interpretation.  Religious freedom is for anyone but Christians, Freedom of speech is for anyone but someone who speaks of morality, Freedom from persecution means freedom from anyone who disagrees with your ideas.

Sustenance (whether food or job) is a right now, rather than something you work for.  I know the job market is non-existent in certain fields in America right now.  I understand that people have spent years building a life to see it destroyed by the current economy and policies of the goverment and unfair and unfortunate banking practices that we all have benefited from and now suffer as a result of.  But, while a job in your preferred field may not be available, and the one that is available may be "below" what you want, there are ways to make money to feed yourself.  I can't for the life of me see me telling my mom when I came in after school and football practice when my family was struggling during my teen years that the (and some or you might not relate, but some will) cornbread and milk and balogna sandwich wasn't good enough.  I ate it and slept well that night with a full belly.  Our society has gotten to the point that some of us act like (and ladies don't take this wrong) jilted wives on alimony that want to be kept in the way in which we are accustomed to living.

I got news for you Dorothy: this is not the America you grew up in.  It's tough and it's gonna get tougher.  You will either make sacrifices and survive, or lay down and perish.  You are not entitled to anything at this point.  We put the selfserving buffoons (Republicans and Democrates) in office and unless we make changes in how we vote, they will never make changes in how they govern.  To borrow a line from a past president that though he was a Democrat, "It's time to Ask not what your country can do for you, but to ask what you can do for your country."  What you can do for your country is some research.  Vote for people with principle.  Not spoken principle, but proven principle.  The same people on this site who called for G.A. Mangus to be fired for his recent indescretions, would let the politician of their party have a free pass for stealing millions from the American People.  C'mon folks.  It's OK for people in Washington to call our freshmen class of Representatives from South Carolina "Hicks" because they chose to pray about their vote on the recent debt ceiling bill, but when they say anything contrary about a representative stealing money they are chastised.

When we quit pulling for Blue or Red and pull for Red, White and Blue things will change.  Red for the Blood shed for freedom, White for the purity of our motives, and Blue for the loyalty to those self-evident truths on which this country was founded.

Re: reform amendments

Thank God we DO have a judiciary to keep the idiots from turning this into the 4th Reich.

The fact is, any group of malcontents can eventually get a law passed. The fact that Congress passes a law will never make it valid. It is only valid if it adheres to the Constitution. Thats the problem. We now have an imperial congress that views itself as the final arbitor, and resents the Constitutional limits placed on its authority.

I wouldnt be suprised to see Congress try and limit those other bodies in an effort to make itself uber powerful. Well, look at SC which has the strongest legislative body in America.

Like what you see????

I didnt think so....

Re: reform amendments

I will agree that the people are broken too. THey pay atention to sports and entertainment too much and have a bad culture. The FED reserve wanting us to go into debt pushes socialism through the controlled education system and media and too many people fall for it. I have felt that the Red states being connected being connected to the northeast and California is not good for the economy or our people. They are marxists who will never be like the traditional people. It's time for the spirit of South Carolina 1860 if you ask me. I still stick to my desire to reform the system. There is barely a dozen conservative congressman and senators out of 535, and ROn Paul is stepping down. The judiciary barely hands down decisions that are constitutional, especially about the 10th Amendment. All three branches are corrupted. The people of the States have to become the government. An amendment where a majority of the States can overrule the National government on any issue by state reps or popular vote would be awesome. Voting on the issues would be fun.

Take care!!

Agreed and we can start with the following:

Term Limits for the legislative and judicial branches

No special health care system for elected officials

No special social security system for elected officials

Allowing Congress to vote on their own pay raises

Until we get rid of the special entitlements that so many in gov't receive, very little will change.

Re: reform amendments

agreed except the part about pay raises. At some point it may be necessary to consider them, so how would you go about creating a system that would allow appropriate or warranted raises to be awarded..??

The same is true for General Assembly here in SC...

Re: reform amendments

They could setup a small board made up of independent advisers that could recommend whether a raise is warranted or not.  This could be based on several factors.  When most Americans are seeing little to no income growth, government officials should have to deal with the same things that everyone in the private sector deals with.  There was a time when people served the gov't to work not to expect special entitlements.  Unfortunately that has attitude has changed drastically over the past 50 years.
