OK... Did I miss something?
University of No Class claims they won the Coastal Division this past 2012 season. This was the billboard they paid to put up:  They actually believe this and out of many, many pages of responses I think I read "ONE" UNCheat fan say he did not think it was right. Don't Division Champs play in a Championship game??? All I can say is this is a new low set by UNCheat, but from their recent past I guess cheating and doing whatever you gotta do to win something now applies to the fan base.... They even said that the team received rings... Pathetic... I posted links but they go directly to their main tar pit page... Miami, UNC, and Ga Tech tied for the coastal title. The only reason Ga tech went to the title game was UNC was ineligible and Miami chose to not go to help with their NCAA troubles.

Under UNC-ch logic Ohio state is the bcs champions. 12-0, undefeated, except they couldn't play in the game because they were under sanctions. It's true UNC-ch tied however if they had not violated NCAA rules bad enough to get a post season and championship ban then it wouldn't be an issue... I could see Clemson doing this, but I guess when your used to winning only in basketball and would sell your family for the same fortune in football but it just don't happen you resort to any silver lining.

It is weird. I think a majority of the fan base that has seen it was shocked or taken back initially when they saw. We all know the deal. It is what it is. By no means was the fan base begging for this. IMO, this was to help with recruiting in Charlotte and to piss of the ncsu crowd. It's working extremely well in one of those aspects. The kids got a sweet hoodie and a shirt. They deserve it, especially the seniors. I read where Urban intends to put up a banner.

really???... base on what???...
the only thing close to unc putting a billboard up about a championship that they didn't win is a team giving out rings for "most wins ever"...

Drheel, you make good points... Come on back when the game gets closer. You are seem like a good common sense fan, it will be nice having decent UNC fans to trade post with.... Despite what you read from the start of my topic that was mostly directed towards the many UNC fans who come here just to start stuff... You will see decent rivals get treated better here than lots of boards, As you see a tater who has been welcomed here with open arms has lately worn out his welcome from being a bad boy or girl (not sure, didn't want to disrespect him or her by saying the wrong gender...)
Gotigrz- read what I just said to Drheel... Do the opposite.... Oh also, I just finished my conversation with Kev right below my reply to you, feel free to read that also...
Kev- You know over on the Tater board the story about Anthem is the Mods ban you even if you don't post, if they see your Clemson screen name they ban you.... You just proved a very true point. Taters are welcome as long as they realize which board they are on and have manners. Taters will see and hear things they don't agree with, or dislike but it's a Gamecock board. Same rules apply over on the tater board, Gamecocks may not like or agree with everything but it's their board, get outta line and IHOP will ban you...

It's tough for other fan bases to fathom what the fans and more importantly the players have experienced in the last 3 or so years unless they've "been there before". It's easy for rival fan bases to get caught up in the demise/agony of other schools. I get it. But many are quick to forget that the fans are at the mercy of these team's/player's/coach's actions. Nobody wanted what happened to happen but it did. IT. SUCKS. The "scandal" doesn't represent me or my beliefs so I hope that isn't held against me around here. I look forward to some interesting discussions leading up to our big game this fall.

all i asked was: where do you get that you could see clemson putting up a billboard that says we won a divisional championship that we didn't, or at best tied for??? we've never done that before, or anything like that...
as for the ring comment... i thought it was funny...

if it had been any other sport it would have been stripped from them as well..

if you're referring to my statement, then it's not wrong... regardless of violations or whatever(PLENTY of teams would fall in this catagory)... we DO have a national championship... we own the trophy that says so... if you don't believe me, check out our trophy case in jervey... it looks great...
this is completely different than unc's claim of a divisional title that they don't have and didn't even play in the championship game...

Actually..plenty of teams do NOT fall into that category..Clemsons violations were in a class by themselves that only SMU has equalled up until recently.. teams with far lesser violations had all their victories stripped from them...so clemson should have as well. The trophy clemson shows off is no different than if they made their own trophy. That is essentially what notre dame, alabama and many other schools have done as they have fabricated mythical national championships from years past and claim them. Yes clemson was awarded it by a some newspapers..but it has no legitimacy. Thats why it is called a "Mythical national championship"....because it didnt exist in reality.... and in todays world clemson would have had it stripped.. |

excellent point Cockintaterland, might I add, imagine a player who was paid by a school to play for them, supplied him with performance enhancement drugs/steroids and he won the Heisman... As a fan of another school would that be fair? On top of that how would you feel hearing a fan from the cheating school even after knowing the whole story bragging about it? Do Clemson fans not get it? Instead the story you get is Oh, the sanctions were prior to 81', two kids that took money decided they wanted to go elsewhere and Clemson tried to bully them so they opened up a huge can of worms, and I agree with the tater they do own the trophy... They paid for it...

There has never been an NCAA Championship in Division I major college football and therefore they have no authority to strip teams of these mythical championships. All Clemson did in 1981 was finish ranked No. 1 in both polls. That's all any of the so-called National Champion teams ever did prior to the BCS era. That's all we could have claimed if we'd gone undefeated in 1984. Since 1998 all the "champions" have done is win a bowl game with the title BCS Championship attached to it. But no of these "champions" in the history of college football have been NCAA Champions. The only team I know of in this state to win an NCAA Championship in football is Furman.
