It is totally guided by "the law of talent (supply) and demand", no doubt. We have done very, very well with the HBC as our coach and he has proved to be worth every penny we pay him and his staff. Not only are we winning, but we are changing the culture around the program.
Go Gamecocks!!!

gacock And we are making money doing it. It would be shameful if the product sucked and we were losing money.

11-2 back to back seasons, competitive in the golden era of SEC football for a program that's the perennial under achiever in football and maybe, just maybe a SEC championship next season. Heck we got a bargain!
We are a BASEBALL school now...

Shameful are coaches like Dooley & Kiffen who get large salaries at big time programs and go to lame bowls or worse.

It is the going price. Looking at professional football and the money there certainly demands that some coaches must produce guys to play the game. The public spends a huge amount of money on football. It is what it is.

RE: Is Spurrier's salary "shameful?"
Clemson doesn't care how bad their conference and competition is as long as they can brag about having 10 plus wins then they are Gods gift to college football... I ran into a tater this very week who was giving USC props (although much of it was back hand compliments) however, he basically spoke as if they had to climb a very huge mountain, a meat grinder of a schedule, and how beating LSU was proof that they were right up there with Bama. Anyway my point to this topic was Clemson will gladly pay Dabo 2 mil as long as he remains the tallest midget in the Conference...

Spurrier has been a blessing to our team and worth every penny! Why don't he write about over paid O coordinators who can beat other ACC teams but still can't beat their instate rival?

Re: Is Spurrier's salary "shameful?"
"Relatively speaking, South Carolina and Clemson have made shrewd investments."
Sounds about right to me. I can't disagree with that.
In the case of college coaches making excessive salaries, that bothers me much less than corrupt CEOs and politicians enriching themselves at the expense of shareholders and taxpayers.
Back to Back for the Garnet & Black!
