Lattimore to the NFL Draft
Being reported from several sources. Apparently an announcement is planned for later this week. Best of luck to you Marcus! Thanks for the years, the yards and the TD's. Now get healthy and kick some butt in the NFL!

Best of luck to the greatest gamecock ever, IMO.
Flip side - we lost two recruits and now Marcus to the draft.....we need some good news soon.

RE: Lattimore to the NFL Draft
Godspeed #21. You wore the Garnet and Black with more courage and class most who ever have or will wear it. Thank-you for what you did for our program.
BTW, betcha the UGA coaching staff is cheering right now!

For those of you that are not subscribers, Adam shared the news that Marcus was going to announce hes going pro this week yesterday morning on The Golden Spur. He does a good job in getting the best info for all of us on GS.

Re: Lattimore to the NFL Draft
This is a decision that will financially change this young man's life...today and in the future. And one that had to be made now. Nobody at USC has ever worked harder or given more of themselves than Marcus Lattimore. Hope he takes the NFL by storm but with or without pro football you just know Marcus will be a success in life.

Re: Lattimore to the NFL Draft
He goes with my blessing. It broke my heart seeing the second tear. Marcus is a strong person and he will work at rehabbing harder than anyone. I hope he gets rich and I get to watch him run that ball on Sunday. Godspeed Marcus. Gamecock Nation will always have your back.

Re: Lattimore to the NFL Draft
Whether he has gotten word that he will be drafted in a higher than expected round than we would think with his injury history or he is just testing to see where his projection is, I know God has a plan for his life and he will take advantage and make the most of it.
No one can ever take away the memories of #21 eating up yardage at the WB and ever other stadium he played in. He has my prayers for his success.

I really feel like this is a mistake for him, but I wish him the best and thank him for all he has done for our program.

I think this is the right decision for Marcus. It is the best alternative. I hope he does well in the NFL and is rewarded well financially.

Re: Lattimore to the NFL Draft
Best of luck Marcus. I pray you stay injury free. You are a class act and I hope Carolina retires #21. You epitomize the term Student/Athlete. God bless.

Re: Lattimore to the NFL Draft
There have been many fine athletes to have donned the Garnet and Black, including Heisman winner George Rogers. There have been many "feel good" stories written about some of our fellow Gamecock athletes such as "Pop", the war veteran. And many players who were not taken by their home state school but who signed with Carolina and then came back to haunt that school such as the story of Ryan Brewer. We have had many of our own go on to star in the NFL like Sterling Sharpe, Marcus Robinson, and John Abraham.
But never in the history of Gamecock football has one player had such an immediate and far reaching effect as the story of Marcus Lattimore. He burst upon the national college football consciousness in game two against Georgia in 2010. Jaws dropped instantaneously as he ran roughshod on National TV shedding tacklers and moving the pile. Though he came to South Carolina as the number one running back recruit in the country by some pundits, no one really knew what was in store. Some Georgia fans told me all they could say watching this true freshman was "Good Lord". They were incredulous and we knew what we had, and soon the entire nation knew.
But there was more than football greatness yet to come. Pretty soon the entire football program was influenced by the pure goodness of the man. He didn't try to, but fairly soon this true freshman had the gravitas in leadership usually reserved for seniors. He gained the respect and love of his teammate, coaches, and soon thereafter his opponents and their fans. If he makes it back and plays in the NFL, his is a Horatio Alger story worthy of Hollywood film. His story is one of determination, leadership and humility. It is almost spiritual.
Often, the term "great" is assigned to players flippantly. But greatness to me is reserved for the best of the best, the creme d'le creme. And to me, Marcus Lattimore is the Greatest Player ever to play for the University of South Carolina.
Venerable Gamecock

I hope Marcus becomes the premier running back in the NFL and makes a zillion dollars.
