Scared or Swagger?

Scared or Swagger?
I need input from everyone. It seems to me that Spurrier seemed a lillte down during his call-in show this week, much more so than anytime before. And when discussing his possibilities of becoming Carolina's all time winner this Sat. he seemed kind of nonchalant which is totally out of his character about such accomplishments.
Also, I'm used to Tater fans thinking that their the greatest team on the planet and will beat us by 50 but everyone in the upstate has been talking about how confident they are and how relaxed their team is. And it does seem that way when you hear them interview.
So tell me am I missing something? Is it because we played bad aginst Wofford or because we have so many injuries or because Clempson's "O" is even better than Oregon's?
Or am I just reading it wrong? Because the way I see it everyone wearing garnet & black from the coaches and players to the fans should be jacked because I guarantee when this team is focused and has its swagger it can beat anybody anywhere.
PS - anyone that doesn't think that we can score points just needs to look at the Georgia game. Georgia's D is 100x's better than Clempson and we scored very well.

Re: Scared or Swagger?
I think the absence of Lattimore, the injuries to Shaw and Clowney, clempson's home field advantage, and our poor record in away games had watered down the enthusiasm a little bit. Things will probably get better when the games actually gets underway and the Gamecocks demonstrate superiority over the over hyped taters.

I tend to think so also, CB. I just will feel a lot better when I see our guys take the field.

Our players are 100% sure they are winning. The fans are the only ones scared. I don't know how old any of you are, but I am guessing you graduated 12 or more years ago. That was back when USC expected to lose. These kids no zero about that. They know winning. Spurrier decided to play nicely this week along with Dabo. Just ask Bart Wright of the Greenville News. Watch the Marty Simpson video. Fans are projecting their worries onto the coach and team. It is after all, just a football game. Fear the soon coming financial disaster, not our team. They are sure they will win.

I also think the horrendous display by the offense against Wofford is giving fans pause for thought.

To paraphrase Shakespeare (Julius Caesar Act II Scene II),
"Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders that I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that taters should fear; Seeing that another loss to the Gamecocks, a necessary end, will come when it will come".

Re: Scared or Swagger?
Coach Spurrier does NOT want this game to be about his record. He probably thinks that this is a bad week for that to come around.
He wants every game to stand on it's own merit and to treat each game the same.

I think our guys (players and coaches) have a quiet confidence. They are going to stick it to Dabo. Why run off at the mouth the way Dabo & company do?

"Winning is not a sometime thing: it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do the right thing once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing." - Vince Lombardi (NFL Hall of Fame Coach)

Re: Scared or Swagger?
You can bet your bottom dollar Spurrier and the team know what is at stake on saturday with the win record and the ability to break that record in Clemson's house. My guess is Spurrier is looking to the team to score "a half a hundred" on Dabo and company. He will do his talking after the game, rubbing salt in the wounds of the tater faithful

Re: Scared or Swagger?
Go back and watch the game...Gamecocks opened huge holes in Wofford. Without the fumbles, we would have been more in sync and scored at least one more TD (the one when Davis fumbled on the two after one of the best runs of the year). If we won 31-7, I don't think we get the Debbie Downers. We have seen the Clemson offense multiple times, not Wofford. If Glennon was any kind of runner, the times he threw the ball up or took intentional grounding, he would have had over 100 yards rushing, like Connor did to them last year....I think our offense puts up another 35 points on them and we must count on our defense to hold them in check by destroying their running game and containing them and tackling on the first contact.

That is so cool, CB. Will, The Bard of Avon, knows. Thus, so should we.
