Tailgating at Clemson
Where is a good place to tailgate at Clemson? Also, where is good place to park larger vehicles such as limo, rv, or bus?

The cow pasture beside the baseball stadium usually is a good place but, fills up quick because the cow patties in that area don't attract the flies as bad.Down the road a bit on your left woluld be your best bet.Turn off the paved road and a sheep farmer will guide you from there.

There's plenty of places to park in cowtown just plan to get a weeks worth of exercise in while you walk to and from the game. Also plan to spend 3-5 hours in traffic before the game and another 1-2 afterwards getting the hell out of cowtown. The traffic for big games is as bad as anywhere I've ever seen a game, due to insufficient infrastructure for heavy traffic volume.

Re: Tailgating at Clemson (2 votes)
Had season tickets from 1974-2009.
Only time I got stuck in traffic was when I planned to stick around after a game or went with people who didn't understand how to operate an alarm clock.
Soon got rid of those two scenarios.
Here's how you get out:( or how I did it )
a) Arrive early. For a 7 o'clock kickoff, about 1 or 2 o'clock.
b) Go downtown. Avoid the parking lots. Even if you have to park way down from downtown towards Hwy. 123, you'll be glad after the game.
( I had a reserved parking spot for 36 years...................never went to it, ever. The last 10 years I rented a parking place in the downtown parking garage. Perfect! They should be available on a first-come-first-served basis on gameday. Many places are always unreserved. About $10.00 )
Get there early, and you can park there, tailgate there, or go eat, drink in a restaurant or bar.
c) When the game ends, you can walk back.....then easily get out of town...because you aren't near the parking lots.
Did I mention to get there early?

Re: Tailgating at Clemson (2 votes)
The year before last I went to Clemson and had trouble finding general parking. Most all good spots are reserved. I was given direction to Delta Rd off of Old Stadium Rd. This place totally sucked. Secluded from anything else going on and on a hill. I would not recommend this spot at all. Wherever you find to park, make sure you find out if you have to be gone by any certain time or not. We went out on the town after the game this past time and had a great time until......we got a cab back to my car to find the gate to the parking lot locked and my car towed. Apparently you have, I think, 1 hour after the end of the game to have your car gone or it will be towed. Someone failed to mention that important tidbit to me. I had to take the cab to my hotel room and then another the next moring to the police station. If all that wasnt bad enough, the fine to get my car out was $81. I paid it and was wondering why $81 and not $80 or $85? $81 just seemed to be an odd number for a fine. OMG 1981 was when they won the title, talk about a twist of the knife after they stab you. Dont even get me started about the 75 year old lady that karate chopped my wife in the leg because we stood to cheer after scoring a touchdown and had security called to try and have us removed from the stadium. REDNECKS FROM HELL!!!!!

Oh I am sure you could. That goes for anywhere I would imagine. That wasnt necessarily a jab at you but just a heads up about the towing issue. I never heard of having an hour, or whatever time frame it was, to get out. I was really surprised to find my car gone but come on man $81...really!!

Would that be downtown Easley or downtown Greenville, just off of Hwy 123? Hell, might as well take Amtrak! Tillman wasn't much for infrastructure.

Re: Tailgating at Clemson
I know that year before last we had a mess getting out, even after the exodus of Clemson fans at half time. I'm gonna park as far away as I can stand walking and go from there. I guess the tailgate will be on my own unless we can get a better deal. Actually my wife has a temporary handicap tab due to the cast on her foot. I had forgotten about that. I may have just hit the lotto.

Re: Tailgating at Clemson
For some reason being tied up in pre game traffic bothers me more than leaving, since we won. Last time up there the CU fans were all gone. You can get out easily if Carolina wins.

Re: Tailgating at Clemson
Usually we like to recommend to our feather friends to park in the middle of lake Hartwell. Very little traffic there and not many Clemson folks around to bother you.

That pasture where the sheep farmer is, costs $20.00. But after the game, if you utter the code word, "AWEDIG" to the farmer, you may just get a perk for only $5.00. AWEDIG is an acronym for "And what else do I get?".

Can I ask what street is that parking garage on? Thanks.

Re: Tailgating at Clemson (1 vote)
It's right across from Keith Street. I "think" that makes it at the corner of College Ave. and Keith Street.
Call the City of Clemson......................they are in charge of that parking garage.
No way all the parking places are reserved.....but it will fill up on a game day.
Just get there early.............it's perfect.
