I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Wife has an iPad. I like mine better but they are pretty similar.

I should say I am a little biased though - I traded in my iPhone for a Samsung Galaxy S3

I've had a few Samsung phones over the years, and they were mostly good to great phones.  I'm looking at selling this iPhone, and getting a Galaxy, or a Note.  What do you think of the battery life?  I've had a few smartphones over the years, and the iPhone is hands down the worst.  I'm sure they weren't all as great as I remember, but I know I never considered buying a mobile charger for any of them, like I have for the iPhone.

Like all smart phones the battery life wanes as you run more open applications. I think it's better than the battery life on my old iPhone though.

I've been really pleased with the phone and the google store too.

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is the best for the money. The Tab 2 7.0 is $249. It does live TV and videos in full HD with a great picture. I have run Watch ESPN app, Youtube and my Time Warner app without any problems at all.  It was rated as #1 small tablet by multiple magazines and websites. You wont find a better tablet for the money.

I disagree tgrfn4lfe. I would have to say the Nexus 7 is the best for the money. The hardware is superior, it comes with Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), and every Android site I have read (and tech sites like Tomshardware.com) all rate it as the best 7" tablet. Imo, the only competition for the device is the new Kindle Fire HD. Perhaps when the Galaxy Tab 2 first came out it was the best, but the current 7" king is the Nexus 7.

With all of that said, I have a biased opinion as I currently own a Galaxy Nexus phone and a Nexus 7, but OP, the Nexus 7 is a fantastic toy to play around with, especially if you are already invested in the Google/Android atmosphere.

Plus, OP, who would you rather trust, a Clemson fan or a non-Clemson fan? ;-)

I got a good laugh out of the last line. Thats something I might have said in one of my former sales jobs. Nice one. tongue

Casual user, Nexus fine. Hardcore user, Ipad. Never fails, tablet users of androids tend to stop using them over time. Ipad users, take them everywhere.

^That has nothing to do with them being "hardcore users" -- the Apple sheep have to ensure that everyone knows they have that device.  For example, there is honestly 0 reason to use an Ipad to take pictures; the resolution is the same as a phone, but a pain in the rear to use.

And a true tech user (someone I would refer to as a hardcore user) tends to prefer Android over iOs, as it is more poweruser friendly.  But I digress, it is a matter of opinion of what constitutes a "hardcore user".

OP, in the end, if you are already ingrained in the Apple ecosystem, then go with an Ipad.  If you are already ingrained in the Google ecosystem, then go with an Android tablet (my recommendation is the Nexus 7).  If you are new to the app world, then you have a big decision ahead of you.

I tend to agree.  I'm pretty sure OtterBox is the official maker of iPhone cases, and they have that hole in the back, just so you can see the apple.  As far as music players, I think iPod is the master, and the battery is great.  iPhone's battery is beyond bad.  I took my Nook out plenty of times.

RE: google nexus 7-any opinion

I could give a list of reasons, but honestly it becomes a conversation of apple sheep vs apple dejectors. Apple is a luxury product, meaning you normally don't buy it first, but you normally buy it last and keep rebuying it. Secondly apple people stay with apple because the resale value on the item is extremely high. I could resell my macbook 15" right now for over $1500, honestly I could sell it for $1500 and it'll be gone in 24 hrs.

To me that's the greatest selling point on a apple product, youll never have to pay full price for another apple product again. Try to sell any PC product you bought within the last 2 years for 60% or 70% of what you paid for it.

Ultimately get what you are comfortable with. I worked in wireless for years, Ive used every product on the market, literally. I use two companies now, Canon for photography, apple for everything else.

We are a BASEBALL school now...

Wife has a Nexus 7. She loves it.

I have a transformer prime. I love it.

I have a Nexus S 4G phone that has got to be a couple of years old now.... and it runs Jellybean!! Still love my phone. I also just bought a Galaxy Nexus phone for my business. I am about to get another one. Beautiful.

I personally have never owned an Apple product... Not even an ipod. I don't really envy the apple users. I just laugh at them because they overpaid for stuff that is annoyingly in a "closed" environment (if that makes sense).

My personal and multiple business emails are all google apps, and I couldn't be happier. I am about to buy a couple of the new chromebooks when they come out. I highly recommend the Nexus 7 and any google product with the "Nexus" tag.
