2013 USC football schedule finalized

Here's a look at the 2013 football schedule for the Gamecocks. There are two bye weeks with South Carolina playing Coastal Carolina and opening with UNC:

COLUMBIA, S.C. (October 31, 2012) – The University of South Carolina has announced its four non-conference games for the 2013 football season, finalizing its entire slate of games for the 2013 campaign, it was announced today.

The Gamecocks will open the 2013 schedule against North Carolina on Saturday, August 31, at Williams-Brice Stadium. That contest will mark the Tar Heels first trip to Columbia since 1990. The teams have met 55 times over the years, most recently in 2007 with South Carolina posting a 21-15 win in Chapel Hill.

The Gamecocks will travel to Orlando to face the Central Florida Knights on Saturday, September 28. South Carolina has won each of the previous three meetings with UCF, most recently in 2005 in the first game coached by Steve Spurrier as the Gamecocks’ head coach. This will mark South Carolina’s first trip to Bright House Networks Stadium (45,323) in Orlando.

South Carolina and in-state FCS opponent Coastal Carolina will meet for the first time in history on Saturday, November 23. The Chanticleers will take the place of South Carolina State on the 2013 docket, with the Bulldogs returning to the Gamecocks’ schedule during the 2016 season.

“Since moving to a 12-game football schedule, we have annually played one of our in-state FCS schools,” said South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner. “We are happy to add Coastal Carolina to that rotation with a game at Williams-Brice Stadium on November 23, 2013. It will mark the first meeting ever on the gridiron between the Gamecocks and Chanticleers, and we look forward to seeing a great turnout from both teams’ fans from the beach area as they make their way to Columbia for that contest.”

The Gamecocks will close the 2013 regular season with the traditional Palmetto State Showdown against the Clemson Tigers. The Tigers will make their way to Columbia on Saturday, November 30, two days after Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Adam. It's good to see the open dates fall where they do. They should help. This year has been brutal. Also, I am surprised that UNC is still on the schedule.

Yeah, I thought it was Thursday too. I thought that's what UNC released a week or so ago.

Oh, crap! I hope the UNC-South Carolina game is still on that Thursday. Either way I will be there, but I was hoping to go to Columbia that Thursday, then head up to Charlotte for UNC Charlotte's first ever football game that Saturday.

Oh well, see you all in Williams Brice, whatever day it is!

I couldnt help but notice only one home game in August, one in September, and one in October, then 4 straight in all of November.  So use to a good amount of home games consecutively in September, major change.

I see we open with a weak-asss ACC team and close with a weak-asss ACC team, but other than those two, it looks like a decent schedule against good competition.

Why don't we get a chance to play LSU in Columbia? We've played them more times there than here, why is that?

Imo, it looks like a very easy schedule (in SEC terms).  On the order of UGA's 2012 schedule.  All season long, UGA was ridiculed for not playing Bama and LSU; now it's SC's turn.  People will try to bash your team by saying your schedule is soft -- don't let them get to you.  Best of luck next year (except when you play UGA).

Looks to be another UF/SC/UGA race again.

Some people will never be satisfied.  You guys complain all year long about no Bama/LSU on our schedule.  Next year you get that benefit and you find some other reason why your schedule isn't fair.

I don't really think this opinion is shared by the majority of your fanbase...but come on...at some point it's obvious that some are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Since 2004, (not counting 2013 season)

South Carolina has only played 3 straight conference road games ONCE! (2009)

UGA has played 3 straight conference road games TWICE (2007 and 2005).
Alabama, LSU, and UT have done it ZERO times in same time frame.

If you counted Jacksonville as a "road game" for the Dawgs, they would have played 8 seasons in that timeframe with 3 straight conference road games.  Two years, where it would be 4 straight games.

Seems like you don't have a lot to complain about, as this upcoming season will be "evening" up the "unfairness" between the UGA/USC scheduling.

Who gives a F about "Since 2004?"

Three conference road game 2 out of the last 3 years, including 2013.

If you don't like "Jacksonville road games" then get the hell out.  I'm tired of driving behind Red pickups with black hair Betties driving 50 in the slow lane in late October every year anyhow.

(I think you meant 2011 instead of 2009.  Maybe the source is wrong)

I did mean 2011.

I posted this because UGA was lumped in with the other 3 teams.  UGA has had to play 3 conference road games, and just as frequently at South Carolina.  I guess since South Carolina has had to do it more recently that entitles you to bitching.  You have to have something, so it might as well be your unfavorable schedule passed down to you through the conspiracy factory that is the SEC.  They hate the Gamecocks, and want to suppress them and keep them down.
