I realize it's a long shot but with us winning there is still a chance. Ole Miss looks improved and Mizzou has some athletes. They get wins and you are the front runners again. UF wins last week and it's over. Don't know that I've ever heard a coach pulling for his own team to be eliminated, even if it's his alma mater playing.

No and I think he explained it well. I admire his honesty in doing so. We had our chance. If we were to luck out I would feel lucky but I am not going to join UGA in casting visions on how to back into the East Championship.

We beat the team we had to beat to get there. It wasn't a two team race this year hoss. And you certainly couldn't make an argument that UF backed in to it. We beat them. They have no argument either. And they handled the team you all couldn't to make it so.

The difference was that you didn't play LSU there on Saturday night and you didn't play Florida in the swamp. If all we had to beat was Georgia, we'd be on the way to Atlanta. It was well documented in the preseason that Georgia had the easiest schedule in the east. We beat you last year and did it again this year, but your schedule was set up for you. So yeah, you backed in again.

This "backing into" the game crap is just that - crap.
Win the games you play. Win MORE SEC GAMES than the other teams in your division and you are in ATL. It isn't a hard concept to grasp.
Doesn't matter about schedule. Those are not controlled by the schools.
Win the games you play.

Fanofclassa, If you ome over here to stir up stuff about our coach when your own fans are starting web sites like nomobobo.com, then at least read the responses people thoughtfully offer. I quote myself, "I am not going to join UGA in casting visions on how to back into the East Championship." Your head coach and everybody else was rooting for USC to lose so UGA would benefit. We love our coach and he can speak his mind and we support him. We pull against UGA not so we benefit but because we don't like their fans. We had our chance, and over here, from Coach on down, we will try to win our games and not do 40 Shades of If to see how we might back into a crown like some others in the East do, namely Adams, McGarity, Richt, Bobo, Grantham and all the fans of that weak assed Georgia team that played over here. By the way, congratulations on your victory over Florida. Good job.

In response to your question, no, I do not find it ironic that Spurrier pulled for the gators against ga. First, he will always be a gator. 2nd, he hates ga & I understand why. 3rd, while it is a small possibility that we could still win the east if ga beat FL, but he knows that it's not going to happen -kind of like the Green party winning the presidential election: a chance yes, but it's just not going to happen.
As to the other points, whoever wins the most SEC games wins the east: I agree & it's a fact. However, yall have had the benefit of the easiest path for the past two years, & that is a fact. I will not label it "backing in" but rather fortunate. Of course, winning the east is not that glamorous when you get destroyed in ATL, and I think whoever wins it this year will be humbled again (see the past two years).
Finally, I hope winning the east will keep Richt's job safe because I know Spurrier will out coach him.

Do it and the schedule will be easy for you one year when it's hard for us and you can capitalize on it. Auburn is traditionally a stronger team than Arkie anyway. So that has been in your favor almost every year. Yet we never complained.

He is a Florida Alumni for crying out loud and has never made it a secret that he pulls for the Gators when they are not playing us! Geeez.

So even if it benefits USC for UF to lose, he still wants them to win? Strange. Don't think I've ever heard a coach pulling for his team to be eliminated. Many people already picking Ole Miss to win and if we play like we did the first part of this season I could see it. UF doesn't have an explosive offense. Wouldn't surprise me if they are tested by Mizzou. It's not probable that we both lose, but not absolutely impossible. It's not like we only have Auburn left to play. Heck UK almost beat us.

realistically, we would have beenin better shape if UGa lost..
finsihing 2nd in the East and 3rd or 4th in the SEC probablyt moves us up significantly in the bowl hierchy..
and honestly, thats what we have left to play for in regards to the SEC..pecking order in the bowl games..

Win the games you play. Then tell that to Spurrier because even he thinks this because he wanted it changed, he said so before the season began at SEC media days. It IS backing in or whatever you want to call it when one team plays a MUCH easier schedule than the other one. It's not equal or fair but being a Gamecock I'm used to it. PS - that's why 11-0 teams from the WAC or Sun-Belt don't getto play in the BCS because they don't play on a equal playing field, I don't see why that's hard to understand. But hey, it is what it is and that's the rules that we have to play by.

I suppose if Mizzou upset UF you would've gone this season. He's coached in this conference for two decades now and with the exception of two seasons, under these rules. I suppose what the SEC should do is decide to change the rules whenever USC has a competitive team that has a good shot at winning the title. The rest of the time, just let it ride.

i still think we can get to the sugar. bama beats lsu we move up. ga gets beat by ole miss or bama in the seccg we move up.fl loses to mizzou or flst we move up. we win out and beat a top 10 clemson team and we get past all but bama. bama plays in the natty and we get sugar for being next highest ranked bcs team in sec.all we need to do is finish strong and win out.

So I guess you've already set the precedent that if South Carolina wins the SEC East next year, they will be "backing in" because they have any easier schedule next year with no Bama and LSU, but UGA plays LSU. How unfair!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not like your losses came came from all superior teams that while we played kentucky 8 times. Auburn beat you guys last year and we dismantled them. You guys had the tiebreaker over us and lost to UF badly. We then beat UF. It's nice that some people think beating Georgia is the end of the season but the rest of the world sees it differently. I appreciate fans like kev that put bias aside and say "let's just win our games". The rules have been in place for a long time. Just because they aren't tailored to your situation doesn't mean they're unfair.

As far as being "good" for two years it all depends on what your looking at - we won the east 3 years ago, were 11-2 last year and possibly this year. You guys however have sucked for several years now and have no room to say one word after you got DRILLED by us this year after all of you punks talked trash all summer long PS - do yourself a favor and don't believe the crap that SC has only had 2 or 3 "good" years in its history. SC has been "good" many times, problem is that we have also been bad many times.
