Let's stop this SEC crap right now
Ok...let's stop this "SEC is better than the B-12" crap right now and begin settleing it on the field. Let's start scheduling a top-ranked SEC team every year prior to conference play and see who really is the best. If the B-12 and the SEC would start a pre-conference mini tournament in September, the ratingings would be through the roof and the bragging rights would fire up both conferences for the entire year. Can you imagine a repeat game in the upcoming playoff series? Holy smokes!

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
this would probably not happen for at least five years, as out-of-conference games pretty much fill up the schedules until 2018 or so.

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
SEC will never agree to it. Especially now that the precedent has been set that you don't even need to win the SEC (or your division) to play for the title ... why risk the loss? SEC teams can schedule all the cupcakes they want and spare a loss come conference play.
SEC losses are acceptable. Non conference would be harder to overcome.
No SEC team will agree to it.

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
I seem to remember us beating Alabama the last time we played them, and we split our series with Georgia. I think the others are correct. YOu do have to respect LSU for their schedule this year. BAma. Not so much.

It will never happen. Non-conference games are where the SEC schedules all the FCS teams they can. The SEC wants no part of the Big 12 as they are perfectly happy being declared the best defacto.

Georgia played Boise St this year. Arkansas scheduled Texas A & M. Alabama scheduled Penn State this year. These schedules are made out normally a few years in advance so it is not like the SEC is trying to avoid scheduling some tough games.

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
So the annual extra week off where the entire SEC plays a low caliber non-conference game in the middle of the season doesn't exist? They may schedule a few quality games, but I still think they are getting credit for a triple when they started on 2nd base. garywz wrote:

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
not sure why dopeyfreeze is still allowed on this board, but we did beat Alabama (and a supposedly superior defense) the last time we played them and we also beatr one of you supposedly better teams in georgia. Get a clue. I think anybody could have kicked LSU arse the other night because they choked.

I think the issue has already been settled: " Over the past 14 years ('98 -'10) the SEC holds a 30-18-0 (.625) advantage." SierraPoke2 wrote: Ok...let's stop this "SEC is better than the B-12" crap right now and begin settleing it on the field.

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
We need to change our out of conference schedule coming up for the next 10 years since we are considered big-time now. Our non-conference schedule is a joke coming up. We need to schedule a series with an LSU or Arkansas or someone. I would love to see us go to Arkansas and play and them come back here in return. I know these schedules were made when we were probably a .500 team or so.

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
The biggest problem this year was that Bama and LSU both avoided the only 2 tough teams from the SEC east. This left them with their only tough SEC games against Arky and each other and both got Arky at home. It was how their SEC schedule worked out. However, getting by with scheduling Kent State, North Texas and Georgia Southern is unbelievable. Houston blew the mighty Penn State team away. Unlike the Big XII, the SEC teams have offenses that haven't caught up with the defenses in their conference. It was interesting that KSU held Arky to 100 yards below what they averaged in their SEC games.

Kinda odd that the "greatest conference in the history of the world" has to pad their schedule with cupcakes.

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
If my memory serves me correctly, I think Gundy is .500 against the SEC. Georgia (1-1) Ole Miss (0-1) Bama (1-0) Did I miss any? I don't think the SEC likes to hook it up with the Big XII very much.

No SEC team will agree to it. false...didnt the SEC play teams like Penn St, Boise St, Oregon, Cincinnati, FSU, Clemson, Ga tech, WVU, Texas A&M, etc to go along with their bowl victories? yes SEC teams do play SUn Belt and 1-AA teams just like 99% of everyone else..but id put some of our OOC games up against any other program...tennessee especially... we have upcoming games with Oregon, NC State, UConn, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Ohio St..and thats to go along playing games against 5-6 ranked teams a year in conference

Re: Let's stop this SEC crap right now
Mr. Vol the top teams in the SEC don't play 5 or 6 ranked teams in their conference. You might, but look at who was on each team's schedule this year. Other than playing each other, LSU and Bama only played a ranked Arky team. Neither had to play So. Carolina or Georgia. Georgia didn't have to play LSU, Bama or Arky this year. The only ranked SEC team Georgia played was So. Carolina. So. Carolina only had to play Georgia and Arky. Look at Georgia's schedule next year. Again, no LSU, Bama or Arky. This is how the mighty SEC can boast about having all these 10 win teams. Out of conference you guys schedule every team you can that has a direction in their name: Western Carolina, Western Kentucky, Georgia Southern, North Texas, etc.
