This may affect his draft position. Teams have got to wonder about his mental stability.

Re: Manti Te'o's (Fake) Dead Girlfriend
Am I reading this right. He may have had an "internet" relationship with a ficticious girl but lead the public to believe it was an "in person" relationship only to find out the tale he was promoting included a ficitcious person?
Whacko!

Re: Manti Te'o's (Fake) Dead Girlfriend
That is seriously disturbing. Norte Dame issued a statement as well:
In response to a staggering report by Deadspin published Wednesday afternoon, Notre Dame released the following statement:
On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators.”

Re: Manti Te'o's (Fake) Dead Girlfriend
Wow! This is a strangec incident. If I owned a NFL team, I would slide by Mr. Te'o in the draft. There are too many head cases already out there that end up in disaster without adding one that appears to be whacky before they even enter the draft. This will lower his draft status, but his inability to tackle in the Alabama game may have even a larger impact.

What I don't get is how he can be classified as a victim of a hoax. He had to be a part of this or parts of his "story" just don't make sense.

Re: Manti Te'o's (Fake) Dead Girlfriend
I had some concerns about Te'o's genuine fabric when he was at the Notre Dame-Kentucky basketball game. Suddenly, he was the biggest Notre Dame basketball fan ever and lead the students to storm the court after the win. Seemed very rehearsed and came off as publicity houndish. So, this story, although almost too bizzarre to believe he would be behind this, does not suprise me 100percent. Something just didn't feel right when he was rushing the court. Definately felt like he was doing just for Heisman opportunity.

Re: Manti Te'o's (Fake) Dead Girlfriend
Bizarre... ESPN knew about this a several weeks ago but didn't come clean. Teo needs to disconnect the Internet or his phone.
Thankfully, it took my or your mind off Opra and the Lance Armstrong story.
At one point this past season Manti talked of flying to Hawaii to meet the parents of this phantom girl. Kid is living a lie.
If you fly that far to meet the girlfriend that doesn't exist do you sleep with her at her parent's house or do you both sleep in separate rooms?
No wonder he played like crap against Alabama
