Mixon decision today or Monday

What's your guess?

I'm thinking they will charge both with
Misdemeanor assault
Small fine and community service
He's in practice the next day

They attest the girl on past warrants
And keep her in jail

Lawsuit pending

Girl will most likely go to prison and be faced with a large lawsuit judgement.

DA Mashburn will be given a civic duty award and run for congress after pockets stuffed by boosters for all the cover ups involving ou players

I'm guessing she will get a hefty payment from someone and then go radio silent. The usual "DA declined to pursue" will result.

I wouldn't be surprised if the delay is caused by negotiating the amount and nothing else.

I hope I'm wrong.

No charges. They will quietly announce late Friday afternoon. Let the weekend news cycle kill it.

He didn't knock her out and drag her off an elevator

Actually, pretty tough girl to not get knocked out

I've said it all along
They let it die down, deal with it quietly, and he plays

Girl gets thrown in jail, charged with assault, gets blacklisted from entering the state of Oklahoma.
Mixon gets charge with a misdemeanor and suspended sentence after touring Norman grade schools talking about Sooner Magic. Mixon redshirts in order to let the caca settle, plays for Stoops next season.

Several days ago I heard Dean Blevins state that Joe Mixon will never play a down on Owen Field.

I too believe Joe Mixon is too great of liability for OU to keep him whether he is freed from his act of savagery or not.

Explain why Mixon is too great of a liability and DGB is not likewise.

That's an extremely poor reading of what is actually happening in that case (though I would expect no less). OU is appealing to allow its suspension, made following a Title IX investigation, to stand; Frank Shannon, the player in question, is the one who challenged that suspension (as is his right) and got a district judge to issue a temporary stay; no final ruling has been made. Stoops had literally nothing to do with the challenge, but by order of the stay, has to allow the player to be on the roster list, practice, etc., until the appeal is settled. I believe OU will win that appeal and Shannon will be suspended for the season. Until then, their hands are tied by legitimate legal process.

And I believe Mixon will be charged with misdemeanor assault and battery and be suspended for four games. Title IX only requires an independent university investigation for sexual assault/harrassment allegations, so this case will be different.

One appears to be a thug and the other is just a knucklehead.

One appears to have slugged a woman in the face and the other is alleged to have assaulted a woman, but no charges were filed.

Re: Mixon decision today or Monday

Pat Jones, BBJ, and another person were stating their opinions about who will play and who won't. Pat said the QB from Tech will likely play this year. He said the other 3 are all poison but that he doesn't necessarily blame Ou for trying to get them eligible. Hard to understand why he said the next most likely one to play will be Shannon, even though the media has portrayed Ou as desperately trying to permanently suspend him. If Beckham is ruled eligible they all 3 agreed that the NCAA has completely opened themselves up for all sorts of huge criticism. As far as Mixon, the consensus seemed to be that he would not play regardless of any legal charges against him and that he most likely would disappear and reappear at a school in California, far from the center of attention of what happened here in Oklahoma. .

Interesting analysis and thought process.

I don't think I'm smart enough to differentiate the net difference between slugging and assault.

Read the police report on what the assault was regarding Beckham.  He allegedly pushed a girl as he was leaving his girlfriend's apartment and she stumbled down 4 stairs.

Re: Mixon decision today or Monday

I've read all of it and am having trouble convincing myself that grabbing his GF by the neck and pushing another female down the stairs is indicative of "less liability".

On the other hand, it seems to me that by your logic, if both should be punished, then both should experience some "Forced Amateurism".

In this case, since by your reckoning Mixon is the worse offender, he should be forced to play in every game. DGB...maybe he gets to sit out a game or two. That will teach them the consequences for their behavior.
