A tale of Two Universities...

A tale of Two Universities...

......grab your popcorn and beer, pull up a chair.

This is going to be fun to watch.

NORMAN — Kevin Finlay, the attorney representing OU freshman running back Joe Mixon, released the following statement to the media Monday afternoon regarding the assault allegations against his client:

“This past Friday morning Joe Mixon found himself in a situation where he was subjected to both verbal and physical attacks from a very intoxicated and troubled young woman.  As a result of these physical attacks, Joe instinctually defended himself against further harm.

“As promised, Joe met with investigators from the Norman Police Department this afternoon. Throughout the meeting, Joe continued to be forthcoming and cooperative with their investigation.

“We are looking forward to a thorough investigation and are very much looking forward to the truth coming out.  As we have always maintained, Joe has done nothing wrong.”

I know, you think I'm an idiot. Try to explain it to me without condescension and arrogance and I might be persuaded

Two universities? OU is one. What other university has anything at all to do with OU's RB punching a girl?

Re: A tale of Two Universities...

Guess this answers the question of whether or not he hit her. I guess his attorney will try to convince he public that crushing her face was reasonable force necessary to defend himself? You're right, this will be entertaining.

With the Frank Shannon thing still going on & DGB's situtation, I'll be surprised if Mixon survives this.

His attorney can try to demonize the girl all he wants (what else would we expect?), & she may very well have provoked Mixon.  That being said, video of him hitting a girl in the face hard enough to break bones (hitting her period) will trump everything else.

They will do the same as they always do , make the player be the victim. Remember when Peterson hit the cook in head with tobasco bottle and hit mgr with broom at Denny's?
Stoops had short mtg with mgr and all was good, dvorcek, Langston student beating,
Cleveland DA not charging Frank Shannon with sexual assault on and on it goes
"For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead"

Let's see how the two Universities we watch most handle their unpleasant business. After it's all over, compare and contrast.

I would be shocked
like I have said before....he WILL PLAY
no charges will be filed, and any lawsuit against this boy will be filed, and dismissed in Norman

we ARE talking about a u0 football player, and this happened IN norman
I'd be shocked

Trey Metoyer also happened last year in Norman, & he's gone.

Charges will be filed, it's just a matter of what they are.

Trey did not prove to be much of a player, thus expendable.

Way to subtle.

Do NOT underestimate the UT system tentacles. The gang bangers are gone - UT girl was too detailed in her charges for wiggle room. I would assume at least half of the remaining players "earn" there way back onto the team.

Joe Mixon requested charges be filed against Amelia Molitor for assault and battery, sources told SoonerScoop.

I'm think it will take about $100,000 to for this to disappear. I wonder who the alum will be. I don't think the program can take it out of its own till. I suppose Evans will be too busy to cover this.

Re: A tale of Two Universities...

Actually, the facts against this girl Mixon supposedly hit makes her look pretty bad.

And it makes the Norman Police department look even worse.

In fact, the Norman Police Department has more egg on its face, I think, than anyone.

The girl that got hit, has a bench warrant out for her arrest.   So the Norman police department should have hauled her in, but didn't.  And so Mixon's lawyer, I'm sure, is reminding the Norman police department that they need to be careful who they arrest and who they DID not.

This girl ran to Texas, evidently, to have her injuries looked at.   Evidently she wasn't hurt so bad as to need medical help in Norman.

The bottom line is this girl has had several "run-ins" with the law, a bench warrant out for her arrest, no time to get medical attention in Oklahoma, and is obviously wanting to sue, sue, sue.

Bottom line, from this girl's history, I bet Mixon does play play for OU someday.

The OU athletic department has successfully handled in the past far more difficult cases than this one.  Like Dusty Dvoracek.

lawyers negotiating tool

"I'll drop my charges, if you drop yours"

I'm ashamed to be an Oklahoman sometimes

Re: A tale of Two Universities...

It sickens me to hear OU fans defend Mixon, even making him the victim because this 130 pound woman was  throwing racial slurs at him and might have pushed or slapped him.  Proves what I have always said, OU FB is their entire lives for some of those folks.  I can only hope that if this ever happened at OSU, our fans would react differently.

Don't disagree.

And yet he looks bad too.

Everybody loses! Yea!

It'll be a black eye that won't heal because the national media won''t let it. At this moment in time, unless she turns out to be a real zombie I don't think the national - or some local - female sportswriters will let it go.

If you are married (or have been) you know what I mean.

No, I am not making fun of punching anyone. It's the aftereffects that I am talking about. And probably shouldn't.

Re: A tale of Two Universities...

Pretty sure this Mixon kid is guilty, however we still don't know all of the facts. Bottom line, you don't hit a woman.
That being said, we don't need to throw stones either. We have had our fair share of black eyes in our athletic department.
What is sickening to me is how rampant this is in pretty much ALL schools. It's truly sad how the morals of our young people in this country have become.

There is no excuse to hit a woman in the face.  He should have walked away.    Its physical abuse.  Its disgraceful how they try to defend it.

THAT
is the worse part

their fans are branding this state as a place where abusing women is not only tolerated, but rewarded
it's beyond disgusting

time for me to defect to New York
they are such better people than this
