GREAT upside...but doesn't stay with his commitments,... hate to say it but he would have been mucho better off had he stay at OSU. Don't think the Illini have the wide outs or OL he needs, nor a tier one RB...Just saying noidea

Re: Illini fan...

He had a tendency to get injured and threw too many interceptions (including at least two that were returned for TD's) but he was a true Freshman and has had two years to mature. The kid can really sling it, that's for sure!

He had a decent are and potential, but no 'stick-to-itness'.

I think most people here like Wes, but are reserving judgement until the day we all find out exactly why he decided to waste 2 years of OSU's time and assets to leave for another program. I think he will reveal all that once he graduates.

A kid should not enroll early and be expected to quarterback the team. We expected too much from him.

Re: Illini fan...

Ilinois ( what a politically corrupt state) yuck.

But on to football - Lets see...umm -

The Mighty Illinois football program is .....

2013 - (4-8)
2012 - (2-10)
2011 - (7-6)
2010 - (7-6)
Total - (20 - 30) 40% winning percentage

It looks like you guys are going to be a 5 win team with Lunt. If he stays healthy and wants to play football.

I'm with you Sandy.  As much as the kid thinks he wants it, coming in to replace a 1st round draft pick is just too much to ask.  Maybe mid season taking over, but not coming out of the spring.

Re: Illini fan...

Obviously most are bitter that he transferred. He did have some major shoes to fill. With all of his injuries we obviously didn't see his full potential. He does have a cannon for an arm. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on him this season

Seemed like a good kid that some of our fans like to bad mouth. I, for one, would have loved to have him on the team. I think he's got some really good potential. I hope he finds great success at Illinois.

Re: Illini fan...

I think that Wes Lunt is the kind of quarterback that can win a Heisman trophy if given the right tools around him... regardless I think he will be one of the first QBs taken in his draft class. We truly lost a great one when he decided to transfer.

To those that are bad mouthing Lunt... grow up. He was an 18 year old kid that dislocated his knee... Which isn't the kind of injury somebody just gets over the next week. He then came back from that injury, had a shaky first half against the best defense in the conference (TCU), and then torched them in the second half. He played through a concussion in the Kansas State game until they caught him throwing up on the sideline. Unfortunately after that his career at OSU was finished. If Lunt played last year we would probably get back the WVU game.. I think we would win the OU game too... For sure we would be going into this year ranked in the top 15.

I guess we will never know... Hopefully Rudolph is as good as he looks on film.

A huge loss for us.  Has a Weeden type arm.  Some of our fans like to get down on anybody who leaves, so filter their comments.  I think you guys got a gem and will look forward to following his career with a different shade of orange.  Now having said that, we got a freshman q-back that I think should fill the void nicely.  I'm not sure we would have signed him had Lunt stayed.

Great talent and I think he'll do fine in the Big10. Our fans are upset with him for a good reason as he was given an opportunity to succeed but he deserted the team when he was not the starter unlike two other QBs who waited for their turn.

Re: Illini fan...

Still say Illini do not have the WR, RB's or OL that Lunt had at OSU or would still have had he stayed put. Still hate that he ate up our resources $$$$ and jumped ship ...just saying?  I do not wish the kid bad juju or evil karma but think Illini will be avg. at best. SORRYnoidea

This.  He's a big-time talent that had some bad luck with injuries.  Wish he was still here.  Our loss your gain.  He should do well for you guys.
