Missouri has had pretty good offenses in the past. It would certainly be an interesting idea, plus I hear he's a pretty good recruiter.

Re: david yost?

Yost is a great guy and a good recruiter and QB coach.

As a Mizzou fan, I didn't understand his play calling as it was maddening at times. He is too quick to abandon the run. His running 5 wide receiver sets repeatedly 2 yards from the end zone was insane. Our third down conversion rate got worse every year he was OC.

I know he had too much responsibility for one person being OC, QB Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator. That may or may not have impacted his play calling as OC, I can't say.

But Mizzou fans are glad he isn't in the OC role any longer. Why he didn't adjust away from 5 wide sets with an injury riddled OL to protect the QB baffles me.

OC announcement Friday???

Report: OSU offers coordinator position to former Missouri assistant
Published: 12/12/2012 10:00 AM

Missouri beat writer Dave Matter of the Columbia Daily Tribune, citing an unnamed source, is reporting that former Missouri offensive coordinator and assistant head coach David Yost has been offered the offensive coordinator position at Oklahoma State.

Yost spent 12 seasons on Gary Pinkel’s staff. Citing personal reasons, Yost resigned at the end of this season. The Tigers are bowl-less because they went 5-7 during their inaugural tour of the SEC.

“There are a lot of factors that played into the process of coming to my decision,” Yost said in a press release about his resignation. “I feel like I’ve had a great run here and that it’s just the right time to turn it over to someone else. On one hand, it’s a really hard decision to make, but on the other hand, I feel good that it’s the right decision at the right time for me.”

Missouri was consistently good on offense during Yost’s tenure, but the Tigers ranked 11th among SEC teams in scoring and total offense this season. He tutored three all-league quarterbacks (Chase Daniel, Blaine Gabbert, Brad Smith) at Missouri and also coached placekickers, according to bio information on the Missouri athletics web site.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy was sent several questions Tuesday about OSU’s short-term and long-term plan to replace former offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who is Southern Miss’ new head coach and will not coach in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Gundy indicated he will not be responding to questions until a regularly scheduled media availability session on Friday.

Prior to him being the coordinator.

Re: david yost?

I will simply defer to and trust Mike Gundy when it comes to hiring offensive coordinators. His track record is pretty darned good.

RA was singing his praises yesterday.

He kind of has a Holgerson look to him!

12. He came on board with Pinkel. Andy Hill is the assistant who has been at Mizzou for 17 years.

Did you have a decent RB ?

And if a OL is "injury riddled" and can't pass protect, what makes you think they can run block (which is rarely taught these days) ?

He's joining us, we aren't joining him. He will adapt his style to what we do and I predict the offense keeps on rolling.

Can he use the same offense and players that OSU has already used successfully? I'd think so. Can't believe Gundy would bring in someone that won't use what is already working.

RA would sing whatever tune Gundy told him to sing so that's no ringing endorsement. What's more troubling is Missouri's overall statistical ranking in offense nationally. It ain't pretty and only rivals what Bill Young's defense has ranked statistically.

Missouri announced Monday that offensive coordinator David
Yost has resigned after 12 years as an assistant at MU. Yost also
coached with Gary Pinkel for five years at Toledo.

RE: david yost?

I'm not super fired up about it, but he did have strong offenses with Brad Smith and Chase Daniel (to some extent Gabbert). Gotta have a good QB with the air raid, and I don't think Franklin was it (plus he got hurt). He could be solid here though. Might get him for a few years after leaving an SEC job though.
