Gary Gaskin BB commit

Gary Gaskin BB commit

The front page says Gary Gaskin has committed to join our 2013 BB class, yet he is not listed as a prospect or commit.  What's up?

The only thing that clip showed me was he is a tall skinny guy who can dunk.  Can he dribble, shoot, play defense?  Does anybody know more about this kid?

According to a guy on OP.com who claims he is Gary's hometown friend, Gary was 6"7" in high school and didn't get any offers so he enlisted and served 4 years. He grew 3 inches during that time and was spotted playing pickup games and referred to his current JUCO coach at Brevard. Said he is still pretty raw with his low post game but will get a lot of playing time this year as he is really the only big man on the team.

Our 2013 recruiting class is lackluster at best.

Is he going to have one, or two years of eligibility?

Thank goodness

Thank goodness we don't have any really tall, really good post signees.  Wouldn't want to blemish our record of recruiting outstanding perimeter players with huge upsides.  NIT - here we come.

I love that everyone here thinks we are a basketball power.

He would have two.  He played last year at JUCO and he is playing this year.

Ford and staff have truly done a miserable job recruiting big men, and it always seems to be a last priority, that being said if we get Stevie Clark and things fall right for a change next year we could be quite a good team , Gaskins is a project from everything I have read, depends on his work ethic and desire

If he served 4 in the military that would make him about 23-24 years old now.  I doubt he will be able to put on much bulk at this point. He can get stronger but his growth should be about over.  From reading a quote from Gary he seems to be more like Soucek and would prefer to face up rather than back in to the goal.

We used to be a basketball power and can be again with the right coach.  Look at what Gundy did with a program that was never a power football program.  I'm not cutting him any slack with recruiting.

If this is you Gary, please excuse us for being rude. Asking someone to give his best is all that we can do. Welcome. You will be a part of our family once you are here. I do suggest that you  start eating and put on some weight. I suggest coming to Stillwater and eating at Hide Away and Eskimo Joe's. They sure help pack the pounds on even when you don't want them.

Oklahoma State's JUCO addition

Oklahoma State Cowboys Recommend 0 Comments 0 Email
Oklahoma State landed a commitment from JUCO big man Gary Gaskins on Monday, which is a big deal considering Cowboys will have only one returning player taller than 6-foot-8 next season So what can Gaskins bring to the table? At 6-foot-10, 210 pounds, he is undersized to play either the four or the five and will certainly have to try to bulk up. Once he does, his JUCO stats seem to indicate that the Cowboys are probably expecting him to add a defensive presence more than anything else. As a freshman at Brevard Community College in Florida, he averaged 5.9 points, 6 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. Gaskins becomes the fourth commit in the Cowboys' 2013 recruiting class .
