The more I think about it, the more I love the idea of being the Stanford Spartans.  I admit it goes against my own rule about having a connection to the university, but would you rather be a Spartan, a Farmer, or a Locomotive?   There are so many things we could do with the Spartans... to name a few: 

- The Aaaooo chant from the movie "300"
- Incorporating a senate into our tradition somehow
- King Leonidas as a mascot
- Logo would be easy to create if we wanted to change the Stanford "S"
   - we could always put it on the famous Spartan shield (replace the V with the S)
     for example

There are so many possibilities... why can't there be two Spartan teams in Northern California again ?  I mean Bears play Bears all the time, Eagles play Eagles... why can't Spartans play Spartans?  Complaints, agreements, other ideas?

Thoughts? This is really all part of that "Tradition Thread" I started before the Big Game... I'm trying to get a head start for next year !  Do you have any suggestions?

Stanford can't be that vanilla, though a step up since we're currently a color.  How about the Stanford Fighting Ohlones . . . . keeps a tradition, yet PC enough if the tribe agrees . . . . actually, I'm still a Gryphons or Robber Barons fan.
