my very conservative cousin posted this video of Obama

So, what I want to know is this:  how many of you either have already fallen, or fell, into the same trap as she?

Hint:  There is no end of actual words spoken, and actions taken, by this (and every) Administration, which can be criticized substantively.  But this is about as low as it gets.

Is it possible that is a fake or mash up of different speeches?  That is hard to believe.

Which was my point to my cousin.

She chose to believe something which fits her world-view.  But, the fit was too simple, too convenient:  too good to be true, in other words, and when one gets that feeling, one should not ignore it, but question the source.

A simple internet search turns up, not only the full text on the WAPO and WH sites, but also the full video, wherein it is immediately evident that (as attributed to Moynihan) one is entitled to one's opinion, but not to one's facts.

presumably edit of out of context cuts spliced together?

hard to believe he actually would say these aloud (even if he really thought them)...

usually, if something  too good to be true falls into your lap, best to check it outpirate

This trick was notably exhibited in the movie Primary Colors (1998).

Those of you who are questioning whether the video might be a fake or are thinking that it probably is a fake, please tell us that you are only kidding and of course you dismissed it out of hand from the get-go.  Geez.

On the right hand side of the video, the links were mostly to religious right videos "Michelle Obama is a Man".

Re: my very conservative cousin posted this MEH.

HOW MANY OF YOU VOTED FOR THIS GUY? BECAUSE YOURE BIGGER TOOLS THAN ANYONE THAT FALLS FOR THIS KIND OF SHITE. HE LIES WHEN HIS LIPS MOVE, HE HATES AMERICA, AND HE WEARS MOMMY PANTS. HE RELIES ON AL SHARPTON FOR ADVICE ON RELATIONS, AND ENTRUSTED OUR INTERNATIONAL REPUTATION TO FIRST BILLARY AND NOW SWIFTBOAT. OF COURSE YOU ALL PROBABLY VOTE FOR PELOSI AND BOXER TOO, SO WHY WOULD ANYTHING YOU BELIEVE SURPRISE ME OR LEWIS CARROLL?
HOW MANY OF YOU WILL ADMIT VOTING FOR HIM, AND ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT A F*CKTARD DECISION THAT WAS?

Germans don't distinguish between the two forms; in fact, the former term is preferred in spoken discourse, while the latter term is preferred in written discourse.  In English, that particular distinction does not apply.

Yes, the construction is cumbersome, regardless.

Is it a consistent assertion of the religious right that Michelle is a man?  tongue

'Its', not 'it's'.
