Our track team at State could beat Kal... if we still had a track team.

Re: Bobbk Re: The Big Meet Dope Sheet

So busy the highlights will come later, but Stanford did great with two wins.  Sadly cal's two top 1500.3K runners didn't run.   Which made our women's win a complete rout.

Women won 122-41, and the Men won 106-57.

Great sitting with Track Nut friends especially the great Bear fan 073.

Re: Bobbk Re: The Big Meet Dope Sheet

Despite the meet being one sided the Stanford men had 6 PRs and the Stanford Women had 12.

The Men: Brooks in the TJ just missed the top 5 frosh and top10 Stanford records with his 49-11. Willis with his
7-1 HJ becomes the # 3 frosh and # 6 a time.

The Women: Merback's 42-2 TJ is # 6 all time. Wisdom's 50-10 SP becomes #7 all time. Bain's 171-2 Javelin throw is another frosh record for her. She remains # 3 all time. Stepter's 60.62 IH moves her to # 8 all time.

Mt Sac is this week starting Thursday.

Stutzman and Bain named Pac-12 T&F Athletes of the Week

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: TYLER STUTZMAN, STANFORD (Jr., Charlottesville, Va.). Stutzman won both the 800 and 1,500 meters at the Big Meet, helping the Cardinal to a convincing dual-meet victory over Bay Area-rival California. Stutzman posted a time of 1:50.50 to win the 800-meter race and won the 1,500 meter even with a time of 3:48.64.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: BRIANNA BAIN, STANFORD (Fr., Beaverton, Ore.). Bain won the javelin at the Big Meet tossing 171-2 (52.17) to help the Cardinal post a convincing defeat over Bay Area-rival California. Bain’s throw ranks fifth in the nation this season and is the third-best in Stanford history.

Re: Bobbk Re: The Big Meet Dope Sheet

I once spent a day with Bowerman at his home. When we wanted to shoot the famous waffle iron I figured he'd have it on an altar. Instead Mrs. B had to root through the garage to find it. A great guy.

There are few things as great as a track meet in Eugene.

Re: Bobbk Re: The Big Meet Dope Sheet

I suspect it'll scare the Hell out of TC that we'll agree on something.....    but he's 100% correct....

Few things in a sports fans life are as wonderful as a track meet in Eugene.

Had the pleasure and the privilege to attend the 1980 U.S. Olympic T 'n' F Trails in Eugene.   That year, of course, was a boycott year.

And more than 30 years later,  it remains one of the best sporting experiences I've ever attended.

Spectacular....   and for so much more than just the performances....

Great call,  TC....

Re: Bobbk Re: The Big Meet Dope Sheet

I've spent more time on that campus than John Belushi.

Shot profiles of Wilkins, Feuerbach, Mutola, Crouser, Salazar, Chapa, Wells and about 20 more. In 1979 we had to sign a contract that we wouldn't move any object, create a scene or enter a frathouse because of the damage that the crew of Animal House did to the campus and town. Had to put up a bond but because it was IMG's money we didn't care anyway.
