The debt the pro athletes get into is because of stupidity that will not necessarily be un-learned in college.
I agree that the "best thing" for most kids, and for society in general, would be for kids not to come out early. Coming out early certainly shows a devaluing of the free education. The kids don't care.
But it's just an impossible argument economically. In Bradley's day the pro money wasn't as obscene and the justifications to stay were easier to make. Plus he was at Princeton and had eating clubs events to attend.
Sara Palin became a governor, and she went to about 50 community colleges and basically majored in beauty pageants. If politics is Davis post-sports goal, getting his degree at Kentucky isn't going to be the deal breaker.
