What a shocker, that one was a bit unexpected. I'm glad he made the decision! Congratulations Nate!!

Re: Nate Taphorn commits to Northwestern
Nice. Keep the momentum going now let's add a power forward and an athletic slasher to this class.

Re: Nate Taphorn commits to Northwestern
Yes, I believe his name is Marcus Lee. He'd be a great get.

Re: Nate Taphorn commits to Northwestern
Hunter Myers is the San Fran kid, a big power forward. Hope to speak with him this week.

Taphorn can really shoot it. Great get for you guys. Congrats.

Meyers is a special ...
... kid and a very good basketball talent. If he were 6'-8" and had greater exposure, he would be a top 50 player in the country. Great stroke from beyond the arc, great hops and a physical presence in the paint who is willing to bang. In other words, he can score from the baseline to beyond the arc. But he's 6'-6", and maybe a tad shorter.
Can a really smart and talented, but not freakish 6'-6" 225 lb. athlete make it at the 4 spot in the Big Ten? Does the Princeton offense and a good dose of zone defenses make it more likely a shorter power player with Meyer's versatility and abilities can help us go dancing? I think so. We're not exactly at the forefront of the kid's recruitment. Nevada and Cal and ASU have all offered and been on him for a while. But we have everything this future valedictorian could be looking for academically. And unless Stanford offers we should have a good shot if we offer.

I'm excited about the fact that the coaches wanted Sina and Taphorn so badly and were able to get it done. It's a great sign for the future.

GOUNUII There aren't many Charles Barkley's (6'6'' power forward) out there, but Luke Harangody (6'7'') was very effective at ND.
